Exactly. As I said before, I've lived through Glenelg, Sturt, Norwood winning premierships even when Port was a powerhouse. I didn't like it but I didn't carry on like a pork chop about it. I'm sure you have too.

I just wanted Port to improve and right the wrong.
We haven't won a flag for 20 years. That's a while for this club.

It is far too long. But it still doesn't mean you need to lose your mind about other teams winning it. Our focus has to be on us.

Absolutely be good to hear them own up to their failures. But I don't want to hear them talk about the crows in any way shape or form. Get on with the job of making ourselves better.
Agree , this preoccupation with the otherside is unhealthy and serves little purpose. What is useful is perhaps to examine what they have done right in their system and learn from it. Riccuto hasnt been shy to take personnel and ideas from us in the past if he saw them working.

I agree but they should've made comment after that showdown. That was ****ing disgusting. To pretend its just another game and to move on and celebrate the retirement of Atkins for 3 days sums us up.

Ports focus is on themselves individually, nobody gives a shit about the club and that's the problem. We could learn a lot from the crows and what this did after 2020.

The difference between stable and stale is a 'B' and we know who the B is that has made us stale.

We have the chance for a reset with a new coach, I'm really looking forward to the end of this year so Josh can start the rejuvenation process.

I don't remember seeing Manchester United fans not being angry when Liverpool won the Premier League, whereas many Port fans on here, remarkably, won't be angry when Crows, our biggest rivals, are Premiers. What a pathetic fanbase we have.

I hope the club gets angry if they do end up winning it.

I think you underestimate how many of our fans have checked out. I legit couldnt give a **** if they win it. Whats getting angry going to do as a supporter?

Many Port fans were angry in 97 and 98 and if Crows are Premiers this year, their fans will be taking the p!$5 out of us all summer, just like 97 and 98.

Also, Arsenal fans were angry when Tottenham won the Europa League...

I hope the Crows winning burns in the guts of every ****wit at our club who not just aceepted mediocrity the last ten years, but actively promoted it, mocked our supporter base for demanding more and hitched their wagon to a career loser.

Yep. I would have been devo if they won in 2017. Now i couldnt care. I wont lose sleep over it and wont give it much thought. If they win, they deserve it.

Could learn a lot more from the Magpies, Lions, Dees or Cats though.

Arguably GC or Freo too.
It all comes down to having the right management in place, it’s not that complicated.
Footy and business are exactly the same, poorly run businesses perform poorly.
Throughout the year it’s easy to pick holes where the club is not up to standard in every aspect of the club.
I am hopeful at the best changing one part of this puzzle will bring change throughout.
If it doesn’t I won’t be surprised.

And honestly, if you win a flag these days, you probably get a few days to enjoy it, then trade period starts and everyone is focused on the next year.

WOW! You'll never hear a West Coast fan say that about Fremantle.

It won’t - and can’t see the players being too fussed either. Person first. I just don’t think there is the care factor at Port anymore.

On another note it will be interesting to see how Brisbane responds tonight after an 11 goal bashing last week.
I’m expecting some fireworks 🧨
Exciting!

FWIW, the last team to win a premiership after 7+ years of no finals was Hawthorn in 1971.

With a grand final appearance the season prior to the finals drought. Would be an extraordinary achievement if they pull it off.

I’ll also add that they got rid of the people they needed to, they brought in people from outside the club, and they were ruthless in sticking to the standards they set.

Luck plays a part but their leadership has put them in a position to capitalise on whatever luck comes their way. It would not surprise me if they do nab NWM because they’re relentless at not taking no for an answer.

All this with a coach there supporters were crying out to be sacked only 12 months ago.

Finals are only worth being invested in if your teams playing, otherwise enjoy the games and spectacle, though grand final day is usually a bit of a wank fest, I haven't fully watched an AFL grand final since the night ones in 2020, 2021. Local leagues get more interesting.

This season is even worse, Port have already announced the major decision they'll be making with Carr so now it's just treading water til the season ends, essentially lame ducks til then.

NFL starts in September.
