Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Our list team has been a disaster in terms of creating a balanced list.

No other explanation needed.

I wouldn't blame any players for being upset about that, imagine being Charlie or Harry and hearing you're going to be receiving the ball from that lot instead of Martin, Cuningham, Kennedy etc.

Because we’re too heavy on $ but they don’t perform to the standards required.
Just like SuperCoach, you can’t have everyone you want - and you trade out the L/T injured ones.
The boys were more than welcome to hand over some of their own coin to offset perceived premature list decisions.
Notably DC & Marchy aren’t on AFL lists.

This is probably an unpopular opinion but I just don't understand what the players were expecting. These aren't major moves. Martin/Marchbank/Cuningham had zero impact in 2024 because they had years ruined by injury for the umpteenth time in their careers. No other club is going to trade anything of worth for them and they weren't on massive salaries - so what did the players actually expect to get in return?

They anticipated a recruiting drive similar to Collingwood in 2023.

Out: Teammates who were broken

In: Veterans who would help push them to the top.


Instead, they also lost Kennedy and Owies -- two heart and soul players and got Haynes and very late in the piece, Francis Evans.

Wright has apparently done a review while working as deputy CEO and is going to put a broom through the place once he officially starts according to BigFooty.

Now senior players who have been through multiple rebuilds apparently want out.

Allegedly, the older players really haven't been able to build a bridge and "get over" the likes of Jack and Marchy being delisted without anyone coming back.

Would not surprise me - it has been a long standing issue for the club since we decided to let Betts and co go - funnily enough the only time we’ve done ok in this area has been when SOS was the list manager…

You add some injury luck to that 2022-2024 side and we would have been every chance for the flag.

If he could have actually found us a quality small forward we may just have won it in 2023.

I agree with the sentiment. If he 'understood' we weren't winning it, and that caused him to not fully commit to building a team to win in 2023... Well potentially we have him to thank for making it so.

TDK is leaving for an approx extra $700k a year. Nothing indicates GW is the cause of any other senior players wanting out (if in fact they do).

I can buy that they want out due to a mixture of issues at the club (coaching, treatment of other players etc) but to claim GW “is the cause of it” is baseless.

I thought that he got the most Brownlow votes ever in a season last year. Gee things move quickly these days. I thought that he was excellent today.
