Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

IF Crippa wanted a move, I wouldn't begrudge him and would be sad but happy for him.

I'd be targeting a first from West Coast for sure and Chesser is super gettable. Not sure if/how it'd happen but West coast are desperate for a boost and Cripps would be a huge get while Harley develops.

Freo less likely and can't see a spot for him. But I'd be keen on Erasmus and a high pick there as well.

I'm super cagey on whether he'd actually leave though.

If the Cripps situation eventuates, those calling for Reid or overs should strongly revise their expectations.

I’d expect it would be a first round pick in the teens and not much more. The trade value won’t reflect what he’s actually worth as a player. Due to age and the fact the club would owe him a goodwill gesture of letting him go after everything he’s done.
LOL... you don't know what the **** your talking about. Two time brownlow medalist, 5 times All Australian, club best and fairest dog knows how many times, and the current captain of the club.

In comparison, Judd was the captain of the Weagles, a brownlow medalist, Norm Smith medalist, and a premiership captain. What did we pay for Judd again? Pick 3, pick 20 and the guy who turned out to be one of the best forwards in the business.

So if Cripps was to leave. The very least we would want for him would be 2 first round picks. One in the top 3. He is still contracted, so we don't have to trade him. Judd was out of contract and wanted to go home to Victoria.

Cripps goes at a premium.

On the chance Curnow did want out… There’s been rumours floated that WC are big into Jed Walter. Would a three way trade of Pick 2 to you guys, Curnow to GC, and Walter to to WC be palatable?

Walter would be a great option for US to be honest. Not sure how it'd work but I think we'd be wanting Walter and a pick for Charlie. On paper, Suns have the ability to get that done and Charlie would turn them into a powerhouse (at his best).

But would it get done? Time will tell. Blues will lose around 10,000 memberships with Charlie and Suns could gain another 5,000.

He is a multi millionaire who could easily employ multiple au pairs or move some family members to Victoria for a few years. Its not like he is going to live back on the farm and commute to Perth for training etc.

Mate, it's speculation.

Maybe he wants to move back to WA, but maybe he doesn't.
Maybe he's hellbent on going, but maybe he's just open to it if the club want to explore the option.
Maybe he could move his family here, but maybe they don't want to move here.
Maybe he could hire a million nannies, but maybe that's not the support they actually need.

I'm not saying Cripps doesn't go for a price we are willing to accept, but Judd is hardly the comparison. He was 25 (I think) and Cripps will be 31.

You watch too many TV shows where everyone has or wants nannies, butlers and cleaners.

Ask most new Mums "Would you prefer your Mum around the corner who can come over to help with the new baby, or some nanny?"

Judd came over as a 24yo coming into his absolute prime.

Cripps is 31yo at the start of next season.

Let's not pretend there is not a significant difference there.

Depending on how the draft is rated and what picks WC end up with - maybe they'd give us a top 3 pick. But I think they'd want more than just Cripps in that scenario.

I will say though - if there is a way in which bringing Cripps over would convince Reid to sign for less than he's currently asking - that might be enough to get them to pony up big time.

It's almost never just "I want someone to look after my baby for me" either. It's having the emotional support of family who you can trust unconditionally with everything from "look after my baby for me" to highly serious and private matters like PPD or ongoing health issues, and even just the social connection that comes from being around your loved ones (and before Yibbi jumps in, no, the WAGs from the club are not a comparable substitute) WITH your child, not just handing them off so you can go shopping.

Because Fitzy is Carlton first and shennigans second. He wouldn't come into the club to run it as a status symbol. He'd be business first, and our business is football. So, all the board members who are just there for the status of being on the board of one of the big 4 AFL clubs would be quietly encouraged not to stand for re-election. He would surround himself with people knowledgable about the running of the club as a sports club.
I hate the idea of even more instability but I’m coming around to the thought of a complete board spill and vote.
If Fitzpatrick wants to get involved and pull together a full ticket to challenge then I’d seriously consider voting for it.

Considering the state the club is in at the moment this could be a very lively new thread option that triggers the internal fire of those out there that want to, and are good enough (no flipping numpties please) to make a difference.

Ive got no idea who but im prepared to listen

Do I? How have you come to that conclusion?

Just because you don't know anyone who has nannies, doesn't mean people don't employ them. There are at least 30,000 people employed as nannies in Australia. Do a Google search and see how many businesses offer this service.

Don't be ignorant all your life.

Welcome to internet forums. The entire forum is speculation. What you wrote is speculation.

Yep - and poo-pooing it because "Cripps is rich and can hire a nanny" is narrow-minded and naive to the complexities of a situation where you're separated from your family by the width of a large country.

Voss will go. Won't be the coach in 2026.

Why? Because I suggested hiring an Au pair?

I was literally talking to our of my mates au pairs yesterday and he isn't a multi millionaire football player and doesn't really have immediate family living in the same state.

Your experience isn't everyone's experience.

And yet:

He is a multi millionaire who could easily employ multiple au pairs or move some family members to Victoria for a few years. Its not like he is going to live back on the farm and commute to Perth for training etc.

I hate to say it but the more that’s being said the more terrified I am that we’re going to blow it up completely. If we trade Cripps Charlie Tdk and Jsos in one off season then forget any sort of bounce back, that’ll be the soul of the club gone, if it isn’t already. So much generational talent completely wasted

I don't get what you are trying to imply.

You do understand what the word could means right?

Sure do. Your post implied that hiring an au pair or moving their family members interstate is somehow a more viable solution than Cripps doing what umpteen other AFL players have done...moving back to their home state for personal reasons. As you then went on to so helpfully add - "Your experience isn't everyone's experience." Equally, the experience of your "not rich" mate who has an au pair and lives interstate from his family has literally zero bearing on whether it's an arrangement that works for anybody else.
