Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Simon “get me some of the good gear” Goodwin. That’s how I will always remember him.

It’s a no from me… and I would imagine plenty of others too.
Think he'll really struggle to get another gig. He won't go back to assistant level you wouldn't think and I'm not sure he brings the kind of culture another club will really want.

Wow really? Did C4 mention what club he's off to - must have missed the post

What I don't understand is Goodwin being sacked has been heavily discussed within the AFL media for a while now. Carlton has gained a lot of negative press of late but the one thing they don't seem to be discussing is sacking Voss.

A lot of the media pressure evaporated after the graffiti and text-message 'threat' incidents (conspiracy theory only).

Ross would be in agreeance of a succession plan as much as Clarkson was.

If Enright is considering a move to us, (in the current pickle the club is in) I would assume the only reason he would contemplate the move is if Bartel has been given a handshake move to HOF:think:

Or because it's a senior coaching role and he wants to be a senior coach...?

Thanks for sharing Big W. What I will say is this, assuming the above is the case, why cant they just bloody well communicate it to us!!!! Everyone has been around long enough to know not all plans always work out. If there was a change in direction or recalibration of the plan, just tell us. Keep us informed FFS. At the end of the day, it is what it is, but at least we know. Like I have repeatedly said, I couldnt care less about who we draft, recruit, trade, delist, I just want my club to win games of footy consistently and ultimately win a premiership. Bring us on the journey with some honestly is all Im saying. Is it that hard?

Sorry I had medical appointments yesterday and been offline most of the time

Nick Austin said numerous times last year that the focus had changed towards correcting list profile. ITKs here and the footy media suggested the same thing aside from the Dan Houston rumour and even then they tempted it by suggesting that may not alter the direction the club chooses to go in

The messaging was there. I just don't believe the club did a good job of tempering our expectations at all.

There's already a succession plan for Ross at sts?

Such a weird thing going on over there. Ratts apparenty underperformed, so we have to get Ross. Get Ross, still underperform, decide actually we're rebuilding, but also, we have a coaching succession plan in.

Bringing Ross back, so far to me, has been a balls up on just about every level that they've tried to paper over with "Rebuild". He was brought back because they thought they should be winning now, not to go through a rebuild.
Yep, and conveniently use the draft concessions to deflect they’re rebuilding…look over here it’s not fair wah wah wah

He adores a nice Victoria Sandwich, but he prefers seedless raspberry jam instead of the traditional strawberry. They'll be popping off to Woolies next Friday and have planned to purchase a Naked Plain Sponge cake from the bakery section, a jar of IXL raspberry jam that they'll strain through a jock strap to remove the seeds, and a can of aerosal whipped cream (the one that uses real dairy).

Could do myself a slice right about now.
It seems that we have a poster with absolutely the most intricate level of insider knowledge.

Please JJ is Voss gone or staying?????

1. If there's player discontent regardless, then it's neither a point for or against.

2. Sacking Voss a fortnight before Melbourne sack Goodwin wouldn't prevent them from beating us to our preferred candidate anyway. Almost all of the good candidates are tied up in roles at other clubs, many still in the hunt for finals, any approaches made would be through their managers rather than an exhaustive interview process.

3. Those conscientious and motivated candidates will very likely be paying close attention to Carlton anyway, given they are conscientious and motivated and we're strongly rumoured to be about to sack our coach as soon as the season ends.

4. Having Voss see out his contract (which mind you, runs til the end of next year) is not "unethical". If anything, it's the opposite - he's being allowed to ply his trade until the season is done, at which point the club will be in a position to make their decision known.

5. Quite clearly not the case, and you can tell by watching the games. We are trying new things, we are moving players around, we are playing kids - Vossy isn't refusing to budge on what he was doing early in the season, there are simply limitations on just how much you can change once you're in the routine of "prep, play, recover".
1. You missed the point. The point is that uncertainty amplifies stress and anxiety, which is validated by research.

2. You are ignoring precedent. Many assistants have left their parent clubs to fill a vacancy before the season has ended. In 2015, we were conducting our interviews in the later rounds of the home and away season. It's normal for clubs to give their blessing to their assistants to interview, irrespective of the timing. My claim is very simple, n+1 > n. The sooner you initiate the search, the more talent you have to evaluate.

3. I expect that they would be. I just think that you garner more attention with a vacancy, rather than the promise of a vacancy. If you're studying for an exam, what do you pay more attention to, the content you know for sure will be on the exam, or the content that might be on it?

4. My 4th point was inherently subjective in nature, so I don't really see the point in debating it. I'm not going to try and convince you to adhere to my worldview, and I don't expect the same in return.

5. Yeah I was pleasantly surprised when he started playing more kids, I didn't think he would. I think the gameplan has remained largely the same though. We all have our biases, and everyone possesses some blind spots that they won't budge on. Voss is no different. Note that my claim was that he has biases, not that he's not changing his methods. There's clearly been some attempt at change, but is it sufficient? I can't tell from my perspective as a fan. I just noted it as a potential downside.

Cooks top 4 announcement of expectation didn't help. Screams he's completely disengaged or out of the loop or something because how Austin can set strategy and have it ticked off by Lloyd without it being run by and discussed and input garnered from coach team and hence the damn CEO is beyond me.

This tracks with Cook's comments back in 2022 that the playing list was too top heavy

I had forgotten Cook had said that though

We screwed up so many draft picks before that that if we get even half of them right it's a completely different list. Still have the stars but the second and third layer is there.

Given that was Cook's position too it looks like it was an internal decision more than just the list manager

Cook's version of Malthouse's “I shouldn’t say this in front of the cameras, but it’s very, very difficult to see where we’re going to lose a game"

There's a theory that the biggest change happens when you miss the mark by so much that it forces it.

Is he a reliable source? Did he give any information about the “be happy to leave” or was he more dismissive of the rumour?

Deano is usually as good a source as our best ITKs

Interesting. I have heard all year that he was confused with the gameplan and the strategy. Didn't understand the communication between his line coach and Voss and was disappointed in their response.
Seems to be confused on how to go hard at the ball with 2-hands on every occasion with a never lose mentality. Bully the game & opponents.

Also confused his ability with reality on the w/end in thinking he was the go-to-man on the run from 50m.

I thought you were insulting them for a moment by calling them a knobhead and thought "that's odd from Aph"

Lucky I double checked the username

So why does she call me KnobHead?

I'd go further and say that a new coach has already been selected (and agreed to come)....
Our club leaks like a sieve (again). If this had of happened it would be reported everywhere by now.

Do you honestly think interviews etc could have happened and the Board met in secret to ratify an appointment without anyone knowing anything about it?

Well in a way they shouldn't.
Coops93 summed int up pretty well. That's the difference between high performance industry and supporters like us
we are no different to collingwood, Richmond or any other passionate group …didn’t stop them from recent success. I Like the fact that our staff show emotion like supporters. Though I do think the comment regarding the place feeling like a funeral was more a response to that particular bad loss and the fact the media smelt a story and that there was a lot of rude, obnoxious commentary all over social media and, dare say, to the staff themselves.
