We need to stop getting Carlton spuds. Fisher looked alright initially but isn't going to help us long term.

Silvagni will be exposed in one of the youngest teams in the comp. Better off having a look at internal options or state league.

Wouldn’t worry too much about it, Collingwood are keen so if he leaves Carlton and has the option between a premiership contender and a bottom 4 team, I highly doubt he’d choose the bottom 4 team.

Nothing to base this on but I think we’ll keep the rookie spots. The gap between top and bottom is growing. Giving bad clubs a couple of extra rookie spots wouldn’t be a bad permanent equalisation measure.
Maybe that’s an idea. If you finish in the bottom four you get four extra rookie spots the following season.

Looks pretty close although 8 seems like a lot off the list. I'd probably have Eddie Ford & then Phillips as the keeps in that order if 8 is too many although probably depends somewhat on what they are planning to draft and any trades in the unlikely event we can lure someone with a strategic dose of chloroform.

Still seems a waste to throw him even though I agree this is a bit of a weakness of him. If we think he can get the body right and we think he could be serviceable off HB (personally I think he is in the top 2-3 kicks on our team with the play ahead of him) there are worse types to have as depth. Young player, dynamic and would still have flexibility to go forward if needed in a pinch.
Do we really need so many blokes whos ceiling is "servicable" though?

Fiorini would be a great get, but I'd be surprised if Suns let him go.

Best endurance runner: Brayden Fiorini (Gold Coast)

Fiorini covers more distance per game than every player, averaging 15.9km. It's that elite work rate that underpins his consistent two-way running.
I love Fiorini for Sportsbet related reasons because he can rack it up, but by geez he is a bigger butcher than Helmet and Simpkin combined. No thanks

Never say never.

Sometimes life hands us a win - Polec taking the big pay day - then spits in our face.

I don’t blame either North or Polec for that trade, we had to spend our first pick on TT anyway and we had the cap space.

Didn’t work out, understatement of the century, but North had the cap space and did the best they could to get another player in and not waste a first round pick on a player they were guaranteed to get.

I do.

It was a shit deal.

Yeah fair enough. I haven't watched him super closely to tell how good his ball use is.
Sounds like he's keen to stay at GC anyway and will get a new deal.

And he can take an overhead mark

Eddie was tracking well in 2023, then plateued last year despite playing 18 games in the 1's. But he's completely fallen off a cliff this year (niggling injuries haven't helped).

Another player we've screwed the development of?
Or he just doesn't have the smarts to play at the highest level?

ed langdon not happy with goodwins sacking, might be on the out at melbourne.

before people say he will just be another disco, he’s actually pretty hard at the ball if you watch him.
