Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Is bombing it long into the 50 a coach problem or a player problem?

The gamestyle and strategy is not working and that can't be put on the players entirely.

IMO Voss is very verbose and good with the leadership speak. In this case, actions speak louder than words, and the actions have been sub-par.
Good Question. Next one - are our forwards moving or leading? A lot of TV analysts have wondered. Statistically we have been in the top 5 of every aspect except scoring from inside F50. That suggests that our forwards are the disconnect.
Curnow wrestles instead of leading or trying to get separation from his opponent. (player)
Harry has trouble holding on to marks or even keeping his feet. (player)
Our smalls have not got the ability to crumb. (List, player and coaching)
Our forward craft is barely evident. So kick it long and hope for a contest is all we have.

So, just to confirm. How has Dow performed under all his other coaches? Did they turn him into a pacy player that is blitzing the competition? Or even just playing regular AFL football? Has Lyon got him burning up the field?
Just maybe, the bloke cant kick to save himself and not just his coaches have realised it, but he has as well. Nah, must be Vossy's fault.
As for these other pacy players we're hiding in the background, who are they?
He hasn't played? I guess an acl or whatever it is means Voss is absolved of the evidence? Word out was that he was on fire for the saints before knee injury, they were excited.

Speed? Billy and others in the 2s are lightning. When they play in the 1s they look slow as shit.

Holland's outsprinted Chad Warner 3 times live in a row.

Saad is still faster over 20m than his opponents and why he drifts off opponents.

McKay is the fastest tall in the comp. There's footage on yt of him blitzing 100m and shorter sprints with sprinters.

So much zip is zapped OUT of the squad you wouldn't know who's fast looking at them.

Board has voted and endorsed that neither Lloyd nor Voss will be at Blues in 2026. Skipworth has been spoken to already which has upset McCrae hence the public position re Silvagni.

I am willing to get on board with the idea that Voss isn't the sole reason for the setbacks and that we can make changes around him.

I as well; I’m going to judge the changes as a whole. Let’s see what happens with the assistants and HoF.

But I hope the board and Voss are prepared for the abuse coming their way next year if things go pear shaped as it may be the only way to force them out

Hopefully some perspective.

I don't recall seeing anyone questioning Wright's credentials since he was appointed so I'm taking the view that he's had ample time to assess Voss and make his call, which he has so i'm backing him that he's made the right call.

I'm sure a few around Voss will be moved on and it will most likely include some players, but I'm hopeful that the decision to stay with Voss for now is based on him making tangible modifications to his game style.

Edit: Just wanted to add it’s not only game plan that needs work, but also who is being played. It’s time to move forward with list rejuvenation and back some more of the young guys in with meaningful exposure to the seniors.

Think it was Goodwin I heard interviewed on the radio early this year - said they'd made a few big changes to game style over the off-season, it wasn't working for them, but that the options then become "keep going and hope that it's just players needing to adjust to it", or "hit the abort button and just go back to what you were doing the year before" - pretty much said that once the season is underway, it's very hard to make any significant changes unless it's a reversion to a previous state.
And we're also talking changes to the list, assistants, maybe other areas (fitness/dev/etc) . Levers that aren't really there to pull midseason.

I’ve said it all along - this club needs to be bold and start backing up its words with action. That means copping the soft cap tax and investing in the best development coaches we can bring in.

We’re led to believe that we are thriving financially - so time to put it to work.

An insanely baffling decision.

Not sure which assistant at the cutting edge will want to work under Voss.

The game plan, match committee, press conferences are all sub par and to be frank, borderline embarrassing.

We are the laughing stock of the competition and will remain so with Michael at the helm.

Shame. Turns out Graeme Wright will follow the Brian Cook arc. Cushy job for a club that could care less about performance. Sign me up.

Our forward craft is barely evident. So kick it long and hope for a contest is all we have.

A massive problem is that when we get the bloody pill our players are so far out of position (often as far back as defensive side of centre) that we are busting our asses just to make a forward movement.

That's got to be coaching given it happens every week.

Not the decision I expected or wanted.

But it’s certainly the more difficult choice.

GW has taken a massive risk here. If he’d said sack and replace Voss there’s almost no blow-back. If we go 1-4 or 2-6 next year the screaming will be heard from space. The risk of delaying the recovery by 12 months will bring a lot of pressure.

My guess is GW thinks the list is more than 12 months from being repaired so he can give Voss his head while Wright tries to fix the rest.

it’s a big boy decision and one out of character for our club.

I’m kinda happy about it tbh.
