Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Well, for the first time in 25 years the heats on the players and football department and not tbe senior coach
Love it, just go out there and play with 200% passion and that will overcome any opposition game plan, movement of the ball, patterns inside 50 setup etc. the chain of 6 handballs in a row the opposition put together will not be able to stand up against our players passion.

Assistant coach refresh is long overdue. I remember at the time of Voss’s appt there was a real struggle to bring in quality supports - assuming in partly due to the clubs instability and lack of direction/success. We were desperate to get a solid #2 for Voss, and managed to convince Hansen. The rest of the group were pretty ragtag, not exactly well regarded.

Hopefully with Wright onboard and some stability around Voss and aligned vision we can attract some quality in this area.

The game plan and player accountability are mutually exclusive. Our players have not been accountable until now but that does not mean the.game plan doesn't need changing

Maybe somewhere other than where the "big names" have led us since 2015. Which is usually no September footy. So If letting go a few big names shakes up the list then that is an absolutely great thing for this club.
Turfing a bunch high end talents will simply put us down in the shit for another decade.

To pretend otherwise is comical.

Just look at how shit North have been since getting rid of experienced players

Currently he has a better win loss record, 52%. Puts him 12th amongst the rest of the comp.
At round 17 last year his win percentage was 61%. It has dropped by 9% overall in the space of 30 games.

Not sure that's a trend that would see me want to back a coach in. Other than the bottom 3 teams is there a worse recent trend than this in the comp?

GWS cleaned out non-committed players (Taranto et al) when they changed coach, it can be a good thing if managed properly around a senior core

Do we have high expectations for on-field success next year, regardless of who the coach is going to be? We will have a fair number of inexperienced players continuing to find their feet.

I'll be more interested in seeing the changes that are made around the club generally. If we have some on-field success, it'll be a bonus.
It would be nice if the club could actually be upfront about where we are at.

The mixed messaging has been terrible.

One minute we are building for a flag, a win from the grand final after crisis talks earlier that year with how bad we started.

Next minute apparently we haven’t been good enough all along and are building for the near future. Despite this until injuries we ran players into the ground in 2024 rather than rotating in some youth.

Not absolving the players completely but easy to see why there has been discontent.

Apparently all assistants still have multi year contracts.

I just don’t see the club making the sweeping changes, that most members/supporters want.

I see 2026 being the same as 2025. A list of highly paid, underperforming players, trying to play an outdated game plan.

Hope I’m wrong.

Hansen and Hamill are the only ones contracted.

Where did you hear this because I think that goes against what has been reported. Also, assistant coaches only have 3- or 6- month pay out clauses I believe. So it's much easier to move on assistant coaches even if they are contracted

The one positive about the news is no dead cat bounce. Suns can slaughter us as expected and put us below sos on the ladder and likely get Collingwoods spot in the top 4 (by the final round).

Maybe...

Could also be that the flat efforts from the boys were because they assumed Voss was gone and there was no need to try and impress him. Now they know he's staying, I wouldn't be surprised to see a few of them pull their fingers out knowing that if they don't, they could be consigned to the VFL next year or unceremoniously delisted and left fighting for a spot on another list (with a very poor formline to try and use to shop themselves).

Now compare JR and how he coaches our forward to how Adrian Hickmott coaches the hawks forward line setup.

Hickmott should be our no.1 target as senior assistant for 2026 with even handshake agreement if things don’t go to plan he will succeed Vossy.
In last nights game, multiple threats in the forward line, the number of times the ball at 50 went for the shallow horizontal kick for a shot 45 out straight in front, other times pagans paddock for Watson 1 on 1, other times wide receivers in both pockets, other times clear out for Gunston, shallow lead to the pocket, then straight line from the goal square for Chol. The only times they went long blockers everywhere for Meek. Zero wastage on any forward 50, eyes down to pick the best of multiple options. Yes please!

They had a night out.
One goal for every 3 i50.
Well above their season average of 1 in 4.
(We average about 1 in 5)

Indeed. It was a clinic.

We just don't do that.

Hawks skills uncontested and contested were just so clean, which allowed them to take on the risky play.

Having said that, we did cause them issues, but because of our poor skills and poor linkage into f50, we were unable to punish on the scoreboard because i50s we bode will (6th in comp) but score conversion is rubbish.

Just spitballing here.l(and I’m backing in the board and wrights decision on Voss)

But, does the needle move on Voss at all if we drop the next 3 games? And happen to get a touch up in one or two of them?

Part of me is still thinking that the public support display is the kiss of death. But it seems that - given the other mass changes flagged - it might be different this time.

It all feels very uncomfortable given how un-Carlton it is.

All we can do is back in Wright as the agent of change and jump on board for the ride.

Absolutely not.

Nothing Voss can do in the next three weeks to dramatically change the gameplan, and our injury list pretty much forces a lot of the selection decisions.

If anything, the next three weeks are going to offer Wright and Co a lot of insight into the playing group. Who suddenly lifts their effort now they know they didn't get the coach sacked, who spits the dummy and gives up entirely, etc.
