Autopsy Round 22 = Hawthorn 110-46 Collingwood

We're talking about a bunch of young outstanding footballers coming up against a much older and slower side. They would feel confident every time we play them. Their coach is a genius who would be drumming that into their heads. Having said that, they only have to be slightly off their game for us to beat them. The problem is that they always feel confident against us
We beat them this season.

No excuses.

Inevitable in hindsight, players returning from layoffs and poor selection choices, short turn around we should have brought in players that could cover the ground…

Moore has been insipid, no confidence no dare. He’s the leader.
Yes this is an issue, when the team hits a slump, it's the leaders that need to lift. Like Noah Anderson, Toby Greene. At the moment our leaders seem unable to lift and lead at all. We seem to be broken.

2023 we won the premiership and these were our last 5 rounds of the season -

Carlton LOST 76 to 93
Hawthorn LOST 73 to 105
Geelong WON 109 to 101
Brisbane LOST 100 to 124
Essendon WON 101 to 31

No different to what is happening no and that was a premiership year.
I don't see how the current team is going to score 100 points against any team right now

I’m not sure how many of you were at the game but the Howe knockout was horrific and resulted in 5 mins of agonising silence from the crowd. I found it very upsetting and I don’t know the guy personally, just know what he’s been through.

I think if it was another player other than Howe then we may have reacted a bit differently, but we’ve seen this before with him and we know, the players know, how devastating it was for him.

In my opinion, the trauma of this incident just knocked the stuffing out of our players and took them mentally out of the game. You could just feel it.

The fact that it happened in the first minute of the game made it so much worse too.
Nah - mate Fly can’t Coach and has lost the players, selection hubris, celebrated 14 wins to much, Wade is the problem, contract issues are causing disharmony, beating Hawk was our GF and start of the slide - haven’t you been watching this thread.

But seriously, I think you are 100% correct.

Im not ready to write Fly off.

But that was pitiful! No fight or effort.

Our mids were completely putrid. No chase, there was no defensive pressure in the mids.
I dont care how bad Moore and Frampton was. If there's no defensive pressure from any midfield at this level, no defence will stand up.

Sick of the mids standing around and watching for Nick to go get it and dish it to them, not providing any support for him. Same thing happened with our backs when the ball is in the air, noone supporting the one under the ball.

And going forward makes me sick.

Some of those down hill skiers in our mids better be scared for their position next week!

Sure let’s dump the bloke who got us a flag and on Top this year playing great football , because we’ve lost a few games.

That’s the attitude of a Pea Heart.

Your default setting is delusional rants with nasty aggressive snipes at anyone who challenges the clubs company line
And stop calling people sport like it’s a 1960s episode of skippy

I loved the extra added dash of “discredited” to the post

Like…what was discredited about it?

We said we didn’t like the vibe it gave off because it made it seem like we’re not confident our football can do the talking

Then we proceeded to get pumped

That’s literally the opposite of discredited lmao

Delusion is a powerful drug

I admire your belief but can't get there myself. We have holes everywhere.

We are literally the slowest team in the comp. We keep surrounding Nick with stodgy, slow, low-skill midfielders. Our Captain is in a form/confidence slump and is surrounded by very poor tall defenders. Only one of our MMM tall forward combo kicks multiple goals with any regularity. Our best ball users (other than Nick) don't spend enough time playing on the ball. And above all of that, the entire team seems bereft of confidence.

I'm expecting a heavy loss against the Crows, a narrow win over the Dees and then a Week 1 exit from Finals. If it plays out that way, we'll end up losing six of our final eight matches, after being 13-2 at one stage.
And yet none of those were issues earlier in the year and therefore are fixable.

You quoted the wrong post

Not this BS again.
Tell me which players, played in every one of those games in the last 20 years and need to be dropped before the next game?
It’s the only way to stop the rot.
🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

You need to follow the thread...

It was a supporter saying they hate Hawthorn, a supporter who has witnessed this recent history.

Another supporter said that hate was because we hate what we fear.

This is not about the players.

You really have a short memory
Why are you so disingenuous? That game was an extreme outlier. Just under Fly's tenure we have copped three humiliating losses and that is while our team has been contending for a flag. We had one in our premiership year when Nick broke his leg and they ran us ragged. They weren't even finalists that year. Then last year in the rain we were humiliated by having Ginnivan get 30 touches and 2 or 3 goals. He literally taunted the cheer squad. Then last night was another debacle. When we lose to Hawthorn it's never just a loss. It's a two-hour bullying session where we get out run and physically intimidated- and the scoreboard tells the ugly tale each time.

Their crowd doesn't cheer when they play us- they jeer.

When you've watched this on repeat for nigh on five decades it wears a bit thin.

Earlier in the year, our young and old players were fit and fresh and playing as a cohesive team, full of belief. Now they're tired, battered, low on confidence and playing less cohesively. I personally doubt that will change in the next nine days - but I love your optimism and hope that you will be vindicated.

I'd cop the whole bogey team thing IF our form against other teams wasn't poor in recent weeks and our season wasn't on the line. Otherwise its just excuse fluff.
Whose making any excuses? Saying another team owns your own is just stating the facts. And there are losses and there are losses. All three of our losses to Hawthorn in the past three seasons have been wipeouts-complete annihilation. We have fallen across the line against them twice under Fly's tenure. One of them should have been a loss but a running shot on goal just missed. And then we had the one unicorn. The big win earlier this year. Let me remind you, all this is happening at a time when we are winning a flag and playing off in preliminary finals and sitting on top most of this year.

And, as I keep saying, it's been going on for five decades.

I did.

I said to to Domus he had a short memory ie we beat Hawks 10 weeks ago -
You then offer the 2O year record as a justification for his view.

It’s a BS narrative hence my post.
