Cooper lord played his best game for the club tomight

One of the reasons we let Matt Kennedy go was to give more inside mid field opportunity to Cooper Lord, so what did we do earlier in the season we made him a sub or played him on the wing - the kid is an inside contested midfielder and he has proved that.

There’s people on this board who have mercilessly ridiculed and abused Frankie Evans who I hope are ashamed tonight.

It’s not as much about Frankie (who we should all be stoked for) but a reminder that ANYONE on a Carlton list is an AFL standard footballer who is capable of great things and at the bare minimum deserves not to be on the receiving end of abuse just for being picked.

Nothing wrong with being frustrated with selection and preferring other options. What was said about Frankie was beyond that and his play the last few games has more than justified his place, I’d be perfectly happy with him as part of the list in 26
Also, for all the whining about rewarding VFL performances over the years (a lot well-placed, some not so much) including 2025, selecting Evans usually was rewarding the appropriate VFL performance, particularly when our actual positional need was taken into account

Evans, Lord had career best games

Carroll, Moir did some nice things

White had a decent 3rd quarter before being subbed 🤦

McKay worked his ass off often triple teamed.

HOK did some nice things…I’d love to see him play the rest of the season

Hollands got plenty of it but majority of his “attacking disposals” ended up in a turnover…he really needs to get that out of his game

Anyone who thinks TDK is a better player than Luke Jackson needs to have a close hard look at themselves.

I'm including you Ross. $500k tops.

He had the opportunity to show the football world how good he is, but has squibbed it for 80% of this season

I agree we down hill skied when the Suns put the cue in the rack and it worked but at least we took the game on
If the suns truly put the cue in the rack when they’re still no guarantee to finish in the 8 then they’re idiots and Hardwick will tear them a new one

(Ok I forgot about the make up game v Essendon but I’ve typed this and deleting will be a waste)

This game really didn't mean much other than to get some xp into the youth.

Evans I thought was outstanding... question is, can he find some consistency? His field kicking was actually pretty good tonight too.

Fight back was good, but where was that effort in the 2nd and 3rd quarters?

Another honorable loss... meh...

If you can’t see it’s the players you ain’t watching closely enough.
Too many waiting for others to step up … too many butchers … too many not tough enough mentally and physically.
i’ve said many times i dont rate Voss but to suggest tonight is an example as to why he shouldn’t be coach is being totally oblivious to what happened on field.
The much bigger issue is our structure, how we set up around the ball, and how stagnant we are when we try to move it.
To me that’s coaching, because if it’s the players, they should be dropped, which means it’s coaching.

Who was it in the match day thread that said, something along the lines of.

"I don't know what Steven May broke in Frankies brain... but I like it"

Quality post 🤣

You can always tell an agenda when a guy who had it 29 times with 2 goal assists as a half back, a bunch more score involvements a bunch of intercepts and 630m gained is a target because of like 3 wonky kicks out of 29 disposals... Especially when there's axtual pea hearts out there not being mentioned.

Ollie doesn't just try hard. He's a very good player.

There is a middle ground - the nuffy earlier calling to drop him is silly.

But it is a clear deficiency in his game when we are setting him up as our main distributor by foot.
He had 8 effective kicks tonight for 50% efficiency, he is a clear talent but he really needs to improve his disposal and decision making, especially if he is going to stay in that role.

I'm kind of surprised he gets ridden so hard. Yes his kicking can be a problem, i want him to improve it as much as anyone, but especially compared to where he was before this season (and even the earlier parts or THIS season), he's an otherwise far more rounded footballer that does most everything other than kicking very well. His awareness has improved, he's riding tackles, stronger through the hips, just keeps going all day as we know. And never gives up.

I can't help but think that as much as he might sometimes give it to the opposition, how much more the ball would have sailed the oppositions way without him constantly working like he does.

Outclassed for three quarters but good to see us come home strongly. Frankie was absolutely excellent - credit where it’s due. Lord another big positive. Fog’s two misses were just hopeless and we can’t be going forward with him as a small forward.

He has signed the $1.7 yet so prob doesn’t want to get injured

Frustrating thing about the umpiring is so many frees were paid by out of zone umpires and players had no ideas a free was there.

Ollie needs to use it better 9 turnover is not ok.

Would have liked to see them get Wilson more involved much better option taking kick outs that Hollande or Saad

Too often there was no o e running by to extend the kick down the line. Just too static

We need to stop playing a small forward as the sub. Play a running HB.
