Terrific win after conceding the first 3 goals of the game. To effectively lock in a top 2 spot is encouraging. Going to be a very even, competitive finals series but we’ve given ourselves every chance now to go all the way. Home final and hopefully still after next week a healthy list.

Meritorious win against an in-form team on their patch; happy with that.

A sluggish start had me nervous early but the team worked it’s way into the contest without panic and a handy-enough lead was only infrequently threatened throughout the remainder of the afternoon.

Shannon Neale was a real instigator in that early comeback with strong hands and clinical finishing.

Isaac Heeney’s belligerent, entitled display was an embarrassment for a player of his ability; tried to hard-man it against O’Connor, but the Irish veteran is the last player to be rattled and he stuck to his guns like an absolute pro.

Paddy was deployed sparingly yet was still brutally effective.

Tyson Stengle missed an early shot and looked mired in his recent goalkicking malaise, but stuck to his craft and turned things around with a brilliant double tackle-breaking snap and a sublime wide set shot from 50.

No injuries from the game that I'm aware of once again; getting to the pointy end in great shape.

I also really loved Martin's game today - not for his 17 disposals, 8 marks & 2 goals (plus 2 goal assist), but rather his approach

I wasn't totally sold on his spot in the side following our loss to GWS, but he looks a different player since moving from defence to playing more of a forward/attacking role

What I thought was a real positive from today's game was how he attacked the contest - a really strong mark on the wing where his vertical leap would have tested those hamstrings, a couple of times attacking the aerial contest with pack mark situations to help even the contest type thing

It seems that with every week he's trusting his body more and more and we're starting to see that paying off

some lovely side-eye from the AFL match report

Tom Papley was at his antagonising best while spending long periods playing through the midfield, although was back on familiar ground to boot two consolation goals.

If we are to go deep in finals, I have a suspicion he might be pivotal in it. Freak from left field.

He’s a bloody good player that if his body had held together would be far more highly regarded. He’s a jet.

Heeney held to a season low 15 disposals but simply didn't seem to have and serious impact for Sydney

O'Connor clearly got under his skin as he also had a season high 3 free kicks against

Loved the games of our Irishmen today
Heeney is in everyone's (media I mean) top 25 and usually top 10, and O'Connor just reduced him to a frustrated angry ordinary player. And did it without once showing any emotion or drama, just went about it as dour as can be. The sort of player you want when things start getting heated.

Ditto Oisin. Gulden still got a few kicks, but had nowhere near his usual influence.

And well done SDK, this was his best game for ages. We will need him playing like this in the finals.

Connor O'Sullivan. That's all.

Serious question and dont jump down my throat but does Close warrant a spot in the best 22 in front of guys like Bowes, Clohesy, Clark and Knevitt, to me he is very underwhelming

Close is 3rd in the competition for goal assists, 7th for score launches among small forward, pretty much every player ahead of him plays significant midfield minutes
