If he fulfils that potential and successfully makes a transition like Nas has, those two could be the nucleus of a great future midfield. Along with Garcia and maybe Boxshall.

I tend to think he's at least a year or two away from being a full-time mid, and that's more a long term project, given how much footy he's missed. Hope you're right though.

I hadn't realised he'd exclusively been training there, exciting if the coaches think he's ready
Pou looked a level above basically everybody (perhaps not Macrae and Nas wasn’t mid, … but even then). I’d be annoyed if we hold him back from a predominantly midfield spot. I had expected he would go past Steele this year, but alas the body let him down.

I’d say this board is made up of a handful of pessimists posters, a majority of balanced posters and an absolute minority of airhead optimists.

I’d say it’s pretty even negative to positive with most in the middle. As you can see it tends to set off a chain reaction. One side says something that fires everyone up and it’s on.

Or is it a label thrown at anyone who doesn’t go with the forum consensus?
The consensus of the forum is generally to piss and moan about stuff that happened 10 years ago.

The card carrying members of the rose tinted glasses society are actually the contrarians.

Plot twist I know.

Are they mainly poor marks or is it more that this year that we basically had to play with no true big forwards or backs except young ones in Keeler and Caminiti? Or young rucks like Heath and Dodson playing up forward.

And with our forwards, our ball entry to them is mostly poor.

When Howard plays he is a good spoiler, and he also then allows Wilkie to be be Wilkie and to intercept mark.
This is 100% correct.

And here come the Norf supporters...remember those days when all you had to deal with was Young Gun #6 laughing at every post. They were the good days.
North supporters are funny.

They are harmless overall, they just have mega beliefs all their young players are absolute superstars and better than anyone else’s.

Great post

I posted some numbers here a few months ago, calculating the excess St Kilda would have to spend across 2026 - 2029 based on going 5% under from 2022 - 2025 (assuming they did). It's a 4 year carry forward provision.

My issue is that if things go well, we'll likely be in a position like Carlton (or Collingwood a few years ago) by 2028, 2029, 2030. We have Nas (and let's assume TDK), and King on big contracts. And let's hope Nas stays from 2028 obviously. If Tauru, Hall, Phillipou become the players we hope they will, there will be a tipping point eventually.

But again, this depends how much the cap jumps from 2028.

Yeah I assume they know it's going to go up further.

And I thought Max's contract was said to be fairly reasonable? Like 1m or something but not 1.5m.

Obviously things get tricky if everyone becomes a star, but also then we should have finals to help them see the benefit of taking a little less.
