It won’t, you’ll have all the streamers bidding on it. Wouldn’t be surprised if Netflix, Amazon are all involved in the next rights.
Doubt any of them would pay significant money for what is a niche sport in a single country. Same reason why Foxtel has been reviewing the current contract, to try and weasel out of it.

Overseas broadcasters don’t value the sport, which is fine.

Channel 9 & Stan.

Stan then offers a product that has premier league & AFL + Rugby + Tennis

I'm absolutely thrilled that we've signed Nas, but I'm more and more concerned about this haul of players that we're targeting.

Who is actually going to make us better?

TDK is not better than Marshall
Aleer is not better than Caminiti
Ryan is not better than Butler

And none of those pairs are going to play in the same area of the field. You only have one number one ruck, you can't carry two tall defenders who can't kick and there's only room for one more small forward alongside Higgins and Hall.

If the strategy is "let's make finals over the next two years to convince Nas to stay", I don't see how these these recruits move the needle at all. I guess Aleer and Ryan add depth?

Seems like we're prematurely changing course after doing a lot of good work building through the draft. With that said, maybe we do end up trading out Marshall and Steele for picks. It all seems very sideways though.
I'm just going to say is not about those guys being better than our players, it's about how do they make THE TEAM better.

I get the TDK doubt, that cash is alot (and imo inflated massively by the media). But TDK make us a better team, we are short, incredibly short, TDK and hopefully Marshall are incredibly mobile for big guys, I can easily see them being mobile CHF's, what we lack alot is a big guys helping with the bail out kick down the line, we rely on Ro and Wood more often than not. I don't see the risk.

Ross has repeatedly said Hammer is a FWD, regarless we need more tall defenders, ross utilised Dawson sucessfully in 2 teams that both made GF's. I'll back him again to do what he needs with Aleer, because if we can free up Wilkie, that makes the team better.

and Butler, as stavro#4 knows, I don't rate, purely on that he doesn't kick enough goals, pressure is pointless if you can't make your direct opponent accountable. I wish him well, but he doesn't do his primary role well enough.

not sure how Ryan goes crumbing, it's an obvious deficiency for our smalls, it's certainly a need.

Couple of years ago. But abit of everything.

Love the pogo stick jump.

Its great to see everyones excitement re next year but in reality nothing has changed yet. Yes we signed NWM but we could lose some more than handy players in the off season.

We won't know whether their replacements are a good investment until mid year.

Then we still have a list that seems to fall to pieces every pre season and you can bet the new guys won't be conditioned to the amount of running we do.

There is no doubt we need to make list changes, but let's hope the club pulls the right levers. I am one who still believes it will take Tauru 4 or 5 years to get to Battles level, hence the only benefit is age.

New and shiny is not always better!

Follow the conversation 🤦‍♂️

I'm saying Grundy was 2 years into his huge 7 year deal when Collingwood traded him.

TDK is 26 and is about to sign a huge 8 year deal.

I'm suggesting if TDK ends up like Grundy- an under-performing, overpaid ruck, with the pressure of 5 or 6 years left and looking for a fresh start- it could be a similarly disastrous situation for St Kilda as Collingwood found themselves in. Paying an ex-players contract.

Except it'd be even worse- TDK wouldn't be worth as much draft capital.
Do you lock yourself in an underground bunker when you see a few grey clouds in the distance?

Yes we’re overpaying for TDK, no one disputes that. The potential of how good he can be, not giving up any draft capital plus our ample salary cap space have all been weighted against that overpay by those whose job it is to do this. Why not back them in instead of bringing up a doomsday scenario?

Also, Collingwood won a flag after that disaster

I think Grundy failed because the two-ruck strategy with Gawn just couldn't work since they are both below average forwards

Row is a decent forward so I think they can work together

Add on the new ruck rules that favour TDK as much as any ruck in the comp

There's more upside to this than the Grundy move imo

The thing with butler for me is when he’s further up the ground, his decision making isn’t great. Where I trust Higgins to play smart and deliver the ball to a teammate, I don’t have that trust with Dan. With our ball use and decision making being so poor again for large parts of this year we need to bring in smart players.

I myself am tempted to continue to scatter receipts along the way, such is my petulant, vindictive nature :smilingimp:
Thousands of ridiculous posts, make them watch

With fairness Gringo did apologize, which is a big W in my books. Doesn't do any good to keep pushing them back into a negative box when for the most part since the signing they have been relatively balanced.

Calling out inaccuracies is fine as most have done, Bring out the receipts for the real recidivists :smilingimp:

Given the signing and the big deal about today’s open training I’m surprised I’ve heard nothing about it.

Did anyone get along?

Anyway there’s this

Good to see the Secret Service dude there looking after our investment!

Got him! tony74

All are worthy of it.

Byrnes, McClennan, Carroll, Jones, Cordy and Boyd likely delisted.

Hope Moose and Schoey are retained.
More would need to go. Like potentially Webster retiring.

Incomings: TDK Aleer Ryan FRP Fincher

Paul Amy practically saying we are taking Campigli and looking at Voss.
