As per Tom Morris, a 5-week suspension but Adelaide refusing to accept what they said they'd accept - they now be claiming that finals are different to H&A games 🤦‍♀️

The Izak Rankine back and forth is likely to go into tomorrow.

The Crows have until late tonight to respond to the AFL's five-week suspension.

The club is doubling down on its contention that finals should be weighted differently to home & away games in this instance.

And even if the league holds firm on five games, Adelaide can then appeal and use other avenues to try to downgrade it.

They are such a sh!t club

And a stupid one. Just as you've reemerged after years of being shit. Top of the ladder and set to challenge this year and numerous in the future. And you get offside with the AFL admin in a needless way.
They're simply looking at this season and seeing the apparent weakness of all the other 'contenders'. No guarantee that others won't be better and that they also won't have been 'worked out' by the time 2026 rolls around.

Desperate is as desperate does.

The teenager gets it

As stupid as the player was in offending, the far greater stupidity may well come to be from Adelaide's admin and legal people. And not in the heat of battle and after potentially some strong provocation and a young man like with Rankin. But after they have had significant time from supposedly professional people and what should be good decision makers. Utterly mind boggling.

They get to the top of the ladder and get headspins or something. Collective minds organised right after losing a gf

It would be good to see them try because they will lose that appeal in about 5 minutes, then be made to look like they're nervous they can't win without him

Their sponsors would be thrilled right about now

It's a strange forum we have.
On the one hand people think we should appeal the Neale suspension.

But then knock another team for trying to get a charge downgraded leading into the finals for their best player.

The evidence against Neale was ambiguous at best.

Rankine was fully aware of the AFL's stance, it was heard by multiple players, he's admitted to it, and there's a firm precedent.

There's no excuse for him.

I dont think there is either.
But it's ok to have a crack at getting a downgrade. Thats the system.

How and why you have that crack is the issue. Whataboutism and 'we think finals should count for less than h&a games' are not good reasons to drag this already messy situation out any longer. In fact i'd argue it's completely irresponsible from their admin to even consider it.

It also sounds like it's not the first time for Rankine going down this path in games against Collingwood - a key reason that Collingwood opted to contact Adelaide the next day

So the whole idea this was a mistake & a misrepresentation or some other crap is simply that - crap, because the longer this week goes & the more we hear about what's going on being the scenes, the worse it makes Rankine & Adelaide look

As this case has again underlined, there's no actual system to anything that the AFL does in matters like this one. They just suit themselves at every turn, all the while dancing around behind protestations of 'due process' and 'measured consideration of all viewpoints'.

If it wasn't for the likes of FIFA and the IOC, they would clearly be the most risible sporting organisation in the world. As it is, they're still firmly entrenched on the podium.

I actually think that the way they are pushing it is their design to head to court.

In my opinion their reasons dont pass the pub test.
But they may pass the legal test.

There no shame responding to an injustice. Adelaide are excusing stupidity

Appealing a football act for which there's inconclusive vision

vs

Appealing what the AFL have clearly established as hate speech, that the receiving party heard and complained about and the perpetrator "self reported"
