I think it's both. Rankine wants the chance to play in finals. Adelaide want Rankine to play in finals. They tried every avenue they could to get the AFL to fold, and it's the "compelling medical evidence" that finally stuck.

He probably think it shouldn't be 5 weeks just like I thought Finalyson shouldn't have received 3 weeks and it's time to change how the AFL is dealing with these offence, if you don't make a noise then the AFL will continue doing what they are doing.

The AFL has reduced the penalty twice now for specific reasons. They make up rules on the spot all the time, which is not necessarily a good thing.

Unfortunately the integrity unit continually leaked information which made the entire situation worse so instead of everything being announced today it's been drip fed through journalists the whole week.

The AFL said it was medical evidence and won't elaborate as it's a private matter, the so-called journalists are "reporting" it's mental and somehow they want this disclosed when we all know how delicate this is.

What about Powell who got 5 games, self reported straight away during the game, apologised to the player multiple times during the game, felt immediate remorse etc? Did more than any of these other players and got a harsh penalty comparably. He should have got the lowest penalty of all the players. Inconsistent nonsense.

If it's implied I didn't mean it to be. In 'put on the club' I was referring who's wish it was to appeal the sentence in the first place. Where I think Adelaide drove that more than Rankine. Which is completely fine (by me anyway). I was not referencing what Adelaide used to appeal or judging them for doing so. Some here definitely are. I'm not.

How is it the clubs fault that the integrity unit which was supposed to keep the investigation private until a decision was made, something our CEO noted during his press conference today That information was leaked to journalist all week.

Every other club this year didn't have journalist saying player X is being investigated just got handed the end result which was accepted, Adelaide weren't afford that as someone leaked information that a player was being investigated and it spiralled from there.

The AFL themselves only commented on this once, the end result, which was accepted
