you dont need to engage in rumours to realise juh has close to zero value in a trade as it stands.

he has missed an entire season of football and is still only periodically present at training. his commitment to his career is very much in question. any club that even pursues him will be taking a significant risk if he is to leave footscray. you aren't getting anything resembling serious draft capital on top of that.

Of course everyone would love Butters running around in their jumper, but would you support your club in paying the cost this year without addressing the need for a defender? My feeling is that the Dogs with a KPD like Weitering would be a serious chance at a threepeat.

If it was a choice between Butters and someone like Sam Taylor then sure but it doesn't work like that. It's very diffucilt to pry a start player out of a club and it's even harder for a club like the Dogs to do it. So when you have a top 5 type player in the league wanting to come to dogs (if it was to eventuate) then you just do it.

Butters is also only 24. It's not like we are targeting a midfielder to go all in for now, it's as much for the future as well when Libba, Treloar and even Bont are gone.

He does love the big fella, and getting Betts to the Cats certainly helped us with Stengle.

I doubt it's a complete package deal though.

I think if we get Starcevich which would be apart of pick 6 compo for Draper and Butters with the return of Langford, Ridley, Mckay, Reid, Parish, Martin and development of Caddy, Roberts, Kako, Pick 6, Clarke, Johnson then i dont think its crazy to think we can finish 8th in 2 years time like the hawks have done this year
