It's been rumoured that other players are disgruntled at these two salaries but I went to their GWS game on Sunday and thought they put in very well for a disgruntled group with zero to play for, took a bit of Toby magic to put that game to bed.

I'll repost this here without it coming over as feeding the trolls as I felt it would:

I posted on my FB wall last night wishing TDK well. I'm still a fan and genuinely happy for him. I don't blame him for taking the money at all. I feel that I've been pretty clear on that here.

However, there was an interesting response to it that I included in the deleted post.

I received a PM about Tom from a Carlton identity who shall remain nameless. They're not your typical grumpy ex-footballer. He dearly loves the club, is usually positive about it even in the face of disappointment, etc..

Tried to like it earlier, but it disappeared. Caught up mate.

That’s at least one step above where he should be playing, just a reminder he was WOG by the length of the Flemington straight playing for East Keilor in an EDFL finals game in Glenroy a couple of years ago.

I don’t know what constitutes Band 1 compo (is it amount of years or certain amount of dollars pa?), but let’s say JSOS is Band 1, that would mean we get two picks in a row after our final ladder position?

Agree. Aints doing whatever it takes to make finals in 2026.
They'll really need to slip into the Top 8 ... minimum 8th/7th to believe they've made the right calls and for SOS to get some sleep

No idea where Carlton will end up next season ... interesting times.

If we get two Band 1’s, I would be all for the club splitting both and ending up with 4 picks in and around Round 1 and 2. One would obviously go for Harry Dean and then we would still have a very good draft hand.

Potential, i'd say this is almost a certainty. I agree with Toby Greens comments, you can't perform at a high level by paying a player $2m, let alone paying two players $3.8m (21.5% of the salary cap on 2 players).
