Realistically down to the Eagles and the only two clubs with the draft picks that could satisfy the Eagles for a contracted Harley Reid, Essendon and Richmond.

Don't think this works, West Coast will also need players added and not some random vfl pleb for squad balance and experience sake. More unpredictable creativity would need to occur.

To be fair the Box Hill Hawks have about 7-8 players that would easily be getting a game over who you guys have rolled with this season. Not saying you should be accepting them as steak knives in a trade for Reid but just pointing out that we definitely have AFL level talent playing reserves for us and here's already multiple oppo clubs inquiring about most of them.

Cool, then trade them out for picks and try to bundle those together. I know this is the time of year to try to argue that a bunch of second rate players are equivalent to one gun but that's really not the way it works when trades actually happen.

They don't need to be AFL level talent, they need to be an elite talent.

If Hawthorn are trying to poach the most sought-after young player in the comp, they'll need to generate an offer way better than anything they currently have on hand, which likely means trading out a highly rated young player(or multiple) for picks(even though we'll already have 1 & 2 in this draft). Can't see future firsts doing anything, unless they get brought forward.

It's the exact same reason Hawks are no chance for Butters this year either.

Ooh let me have a crack at it - guessing Ramsden, Reeves, Hustwaite, Cmac, maybe Serong? Frost as well I guess but at his age he's not worth anything beyond a future fourth.

Regardless, if they were truly any good they'd be in the firsts, except for maybe kpd's and kpf's

Think Eagles will be asking for future picks as well as early picks this year.

3 firsts is probably a good starting point 2025 blues first (10), 2026 (14) + 2027 (14) first
Assuming Hawks finish top 4 next 2 years.

Harley is worth a lot more than pick 1, and the points calculator always undervalues higher picks.

A pick 3+4 offer from Richmond wouldnt even be a solid yes if he wanted to go there

Out of interest who are these 7 or 8 players.

Either some of you can't read properly or are just looking for a negative engagement. So just to reiterate I said 7-8 players that would easily be getting a game over players that you guys used this season and mentioned that I wasn't saying you should be accepting them as steak knives in a trade for Reid.

You guys did go 1-22 so the bar doesn't have to be that high but the players I'm talking about are Ned Reeves, Bodie Ryan, Jai Serong, Sam Butler, James Blanck, Max Ramsden, Seamus Mitchell, Bailey Macdonald and Henry Hustwaite are all guys who could contribute a lot better than some of the guys that suited up for the Eagles this season.

As I mentioned in my original post there's oppo clubs already looking and these guys with some of those teams sitting in the top 8.

Hawthorn have not made an offer, at least not in the public eye. On the other hand Harley's management put the offer to West Coast on 22nd July, 3 weeks ago. 6 days later he gets injured and is out for the season. Then crickets....

Don't be naïve guys, the nightmare is happening. In your heart of heart you know a player of Harley's talent doesn't play for a team that has won 2 games in 2 years, sacked their coach and showing no signs of improvement.

I assume then that absurd 9 year option didnt get included which is good for WC.

I'll assume it's $2m as well which is absurd for actual output and he'd want to actually turn up to preseason this year without the spare tyre BUT WC have to pay someone and only 2 years means there's little to no risk.
