All the pressure on Freo in this one with the footy media and public expecting a home win. Opens the door for the Suns to play freely and just go for it with virtually no repercussions if it doesn't pay off. That's potentially a dangerous opponent to face. Playing in front of 60k screaming Fremantle fans will certainly make it harder to execute, though. So it's obviously easier said than done.

FWIW when the two teams last faced each other in R12 this year it resulted in an 11 point victory for the Dockers BUT the stats suggested that the Suns should have won that day. So that's an interesting anecdote, even though that game was played on the GC.

We should be full strength for this one as we'll get Will Graham back from injury. Not sure about Freo's injury status.

Suns and Freo match up pretty well, never really destroyed each other over the years. The game will come down to which version of both side rocks up, both have had elite games and both also buckled when a top 4 spot was up for grabs. Whoever wins I think it will be a tight contest but its hard to not pick the Dockers at home

Does David Swallow play?

we had no Hayden Young or Alex Pearce that round. and it was Darcy's first game back on managed minutes/sharing ruck with Jackson (limiting Luke's impact).

you're better than then. but so are we.

i'm expecting an epic game, for all the reasons you mentioned.

both teams coming off big confident wins.
with both capable of fast scoring footy..
Question is can the Suns handle the pressure?

I’m interested in what stats suggested the Suns should’ve won? The stats are pretty even with the Suns having a slight edge in clearances whilst the Dockers had 9 more inside 50s. Gold Coast never led by more than a point.

Regardless should be a good final

as a traumatised Freo fan, i think we are expected to get this done, home deck etc recent solid win over Dogs.

but we tend to play better when we're the outsider... have got some good scalps from the top 9 on the road etc. pretty much no-one tipped us to roll Dogs.

teams are pretty even. duh, why we finished 6th and 7th.

last time we played/beat GC, we didn't have Pearce, Young and it was our first week with Darcy back in doing the 2-ruck thing. managed minutes. but GC have Rioli back etc. King's on fire. Long having an incred year. Farrar and Read look players. don't need to say anything about Anderson and Rowell, both elite. and Noble and Uwland sharp up back etc. i have a lot of respect for GC.

Dons didn't really put any heat on GC last night, though...

Dimma has the big finals experience, they're young and hungry and just played themselves back into form. i'm hoping shitting the bed v Lions got our yips 'out of our system'.

TLDR: anything could happen. should be a close and good game.

what stats suggest gc should have won?

The three teams we have lost to at home are Brisbane, Sydney and Collingwood. Three super experienced, recent grand final appearing, finals hardened teams.

Gold Coast ain’t any of the above. But they’ll come out fighting thanks to the experience of Dimma and the fact we are pretty evenly matched. I expect an arm wrestle, close game for the most part with us pulling away and coming out on top.

This game has all the hallmarks of a potential upset and ambush. I hope we are prepared for that.

We are expecting a blood red moon and total lunar eclipse the night of the game. I’m taking that as an omen. The earth is going to be blocking sunlight to the moon. The most anti sun thing (aside from a solar eclipse).

tides are stronger during a lunar eclipse...

i won't go too far into the symbolism

Probably the easiest game to tip. I think Fremantle cruises home by 50+ and into a semi to face Geelong or Brisbane away from home.
