for a long time I felt we drastically overpaid perryman with a 900k (atleast that is what is being reported) a year contract.

But with NWS now a $2 million a year player, all top end elite talent now looking at something just shy of 1.5 mill a season, maybe 900K for a solid starter like perryman is just about right.

700k for a player with limited success and injury history still feels a bit high. It is the right call to not offer anything more than that.

I wouldn’t believe everything you read. He’s doing his due diligence of course but unless stupid money gets thrown at him I suspect he will choose the club he wants because of the club itself.
If he goes to a club like saints because they offered an extra 100-150K per season , then it is absolutely because of the money.

Right now you wouldn’t choose a club like st kilda over collingwood if both are offering equal terms.

Just listened to what was exactly said on Crunch Time. None of them even know what he will do, just that theres apparently been whispers for a while that the Saints will jump in the race. Edmund suggested they could be doing a bit of tire kicking also.

Gabelich said the Dogs still hold confidence due to the work they’ve put into Jack and the need for a player like him lol.

Then (finally) they mentioned Collingwood and the Houston connection. Then said he’s got a big decision to make.

Tbh I still think we’re well and truly in the race after listening to that. If the Saints were any other club I’d concede defeat but his dad is the literal list manager and I just can’t see how going back into a similar situation would be beneficial for him. It really could be his dad wanting the best possible deal for him from the club he wants to join.
I’m just not threatened by the Saints or the Dogs interest. He’d be crazy to think those two small clubs are attractive.

I could name a million pros to joining us compared to the others, so I think we can just sit back quietly confident that we will get our man.

st Kilda might well be a different kettle of fish next year, with the players they are bringing in and some really good young players, I would not be surprised to see them in the finals in 2026.

There is the real component of him not wanting to leave Carlton to play at Collingwood

Meeting the coach + doing a medical tells you he’s absolutely considering being a Collingwood player. He just wouldn’t bother going through that process if he was against it.

That’s footy these days. Business over loyalty.

This is what everyone has said about teams like Essendon, Port, etc for years. Hawks this year were nearly flag favourites.

If King can play a full Season and actually kick straight then they should make it, will be interesting to see how many players get forced out from these larger contracts

Yes it is but I doubt he will and I doubt a mere 100 would sway the decision anyway. It’s just charades. Maybe he’s trying to wedge out a little extra from Collingwood, but mostly it’s just good old fashioned smoke and shadows behind the window.

The stkilda recruiting effort smells to me like Ross Lyon threw it at the Board in his review: What do you expect, you gotta get me the players!

I reckon Lyons end of season review could well be a little different in 12 months if they don’t climb up the ladder.

The extra dollars he would get signing with St Kilda is still less than what he’d make off field being a Pies player.
You see how much the Daicos’ would make with sponsorship deals, events/functions etc, being a Silvagni would put him right up there alongside the Daicos name in terms of popularity. He could really set himself for life here.

Plus I think the way he plays really suits us more than Dogs or Saints. A well drilled experienced backline would help expose his strengths, whereas if he went elsewhere he would take on all of the pressure and expectation of being the guy to help solve their defensive issues. Really a no brainer.

If we land Silvagni we need to find a new nickname. Anything SOS related needs to be banned. His nickname has to have no Carlton connection. I’m struggling even with the surname. Maybe just call him Jack šŸ˜‚
I'm hearing he's really keen on the Pies, but baulking at our contract clause that insists he changes his name by deed poll.
