PREMIERSHIP DEE WEIGHS MOVE

MELBOURNE flag-winner Charlie Spargo is weighing his future, with the forward garnering interest from a number of clubs including North Melbourne.

Spargo is out of contract and an unrestricted free agent and has been offered a deal to stay at Melbourne, however the Kangaroos are among the clubs eyeing him as an acquisition.

The 2021 premiership player had interest from the Kangaroos at the end of 2023 and decided to stay at the Demons but has come to the end of his contract and is considering his future in coming weeks.

The 25-year-old has a strong link to North Melbourne, where his father Paul played 81 games between 1985-92, and the Roos have been in the market to add to their half-forward ranks.

Spargo played 10 senior games this year after having his 2024 campaign ruined by an Achilles injury, and will play out the season with the Casey Demons in the VFL finals in coming weeks.

He has played 108 games for Melbourne, including a career-best year in 2021 when he played 25 games, kicked 18 goals and was crucial for their forward-half game on the run to their drought-breaking flag. – Callum Twomey

Another list spot clogged. Great! 4 years no doubt.

put payne in for logue and then pink doesn’t have to take the best forward every week and look how much better we look.

How about no.

Wil Dawson
M Whitlock

Heard of them? Why are we collecting shit trucks, like we need to ensure our tall talent have to jump over scrubbers to get a position in the team.

We can't get half pregnant, we need to wait; we're primed for 2027 and beyond. Absolutely primed, I can feel it in my loins.

Not even Senor Brady can be this dumb, I mean who wants a 25 yr old FWD whose best is 18 goals in 25 games.

Hopefully Viney, Thursfield and Clarko put a stop to this move. It makes no sense to me. Middle of the road list clogger.

Likely that Spargo's agent is trying to blow wind up several clubs' backsides by promoting him as a premiership star for the Dees.

A hard pass on Spargo even though he will cost nothing in terms of draft picks.

Time to optimise the talent on our list and stop getting in these plodders.

1. Based on what? Bottom 4 again.
2. Yes? You are brady? Then you sir are a nonce.
3. You said Wilkie or payne. Wilkie is 30 next year.

We won't be bottom 4 next year. You speak on here like your opinion is the only one that matters. We fly past Essendon, Melbourne and Port at a minimum.

No, I'm not Brady. Hate the prick with a passion. Has played the leading role in landing us where we were throughout the first 6 years of this decade. He needed to depart 3 years ago.

I'd do a first rounder for either Wilkie or Payne. Thats my view. Stop sooking when people have views that don't align with yours.

I'm done with picking up entitled kids who winge and carry on (Duursma, JHF). I'd rather get known quantities who can impact our results from round 1 next year. Thats what we need to focus on now.

We should never have traded last years F1.

Trading any F1 should be off the table until we can prove we can finish above 13th.

Trading another F1 or even a 2027 F1 (which is possible this year) to cover off Clarko's mistakes should be absolutely off the table.

We take our medicine this year in a shallow draft.

If the board (i.e you Sonia... let the football department do whatever they want again...) then they deserve to go. This is the real job they are elected to. Governance and oversight for the long term health of the football club. Not virtue signaling and puff pieces.

Im seriously worried Clarko and Rawlings will double down again this year. They will sell it like Kool Aid to our supporters as pre planning for Harris and McCartney, which is utter rubbish.

People said the same shit last year.

It's nothing but blind optimism and hope.

We haven't proved that in any way.

Statistically we are still absolute dogshit.

We can't move the ball, we can't defend.

Yes we can win clearance and score from it, but it's because we've got the most clearance dominant, behemoth ruckman in the game.

Nothing can be gleaned from this season other than we are still a horrendous football side, that has no business even looking at our F1 unless it had a top 3 pick coming the other way.

Even King Corey thinks its ludicrous to offer a first for a 30 year old. Its not just my opinion.

And to think we rise above those teams is ridiculous. All you have is evidence in front of you and there is absolutely nothing to support your prediction.

You know who has evidence to support their prediction? Me.

Stop trading our future firsts everyone.
Depends what for... 2027 R1 might get us Wilson. I'd do that. Maybe chuck in Logue or a F2 for Windhagers.

Absolutely agree with the horror of selling F1 for picks this year, but an outside player with wheels and some height, I'm not totally against.

Happy to revisit my prediction this time next year.

Just for your knowledge, our drafting under current regime isn't exactly pretty reading. Handing them continual first round picks is a recipe for disaster yet again. I mean taking Duursma in front of Caddy is cause for termination in my eyes.

Theres other ways to get better as a club than continually picking up 18 year olds who don't move the needle for 5 years.

No it isnt. All three of those clubs are dealing with player departures/unrest. We aren't.

We have more stability than all those clubs combined at the moment.

Understand the glass half empty approach but im the other way.

No doubt. But we are the smallest market in a saturated one. We really have no choice but to draft our future dynasty.

The topping up BS was done for years (without success). Do you really need reminding?

but it worked so well in 2019!

green or bergman would slot in our back line perfectly ( even coleman who went AFTER mahony!!!)

or the obvious Serong or flanders in the middle?

or kossy or weightman as a small forward or Dekoning as our backup tall to X...

or Georgiatis or Day chopping out souva in the fwd line.

So what?

Richmond shed 15 players and still almost finished ahead of us this season, when that was impossible this time last year.

We are horrendous.

Port finished 4 wins ahead of us which may as well be 50 in our current state.

Again, until we prove otherwise, we have absolutely no business predicting we will finish ahead of anyone.

We would be paying similar odds to finish last, than we would be to finish 12th.

Clarko can't defend. Our players give up and raise the white flag like a junior football side more than any decent side has ever done.

Any other answer is pure copium/blind optimism.

Under no circumstances should we be even talking about trading 30 year olds in.

In fact, realistically, we need to be talking about the long term strategy around Simpkin, Larkey and Zurhaar if anything. All turn 28 and realistically are ****ed in terms of a time frame of improvement. It's unfortunate for them that we've wasted their careers, but they've been compensated twice as much as what they would have in a successful side.

A serious football club would be trying to not run their value to zero.

Not that they would be worth much, with each of their horrendous contracts....

So you're a hard no on a Callum Wilkie coming into the club??

Far out. Its like we don't want to get better.

He would have more impact on our team than any recruit we have landed since Higgins/Waite, and would be our best defender since Tarrant.

i dont trust our drafting regardless.
We took dursma who wants out.
Look at who we could have taken after, almost all of them would have filled a need.

You aren't?!

What the hell is he going to achieve?

15th? in 2026
14th in 2027?

Then the downward spiral?

Oh but they get to sell you on the "it's to improve to keep LDU" absolute horseshit.

What next, we have to improve to keep McKercher?

Not like they didn't end up having to pay LDU $1.5m a season for the privilege anyway to have him stroll around every other week when he feels up to it.

Wilkie would be as braindead ****ing stupid as Caleb Daniel, even if Wilkie is an infinitely better footballer.

Do we actually want to compete for a flag in this competition this milenium??

Then build around Sheezel, McKercher, Wardlaw etc. Not a 30 year old that will be washed up and gone in 2-3 seasons, with a 15 year top 5 pick running around for St Kilda (while they are pissing themselves laughing....)

Or haven't we already learnt this the hard way enough with Daniel, Polec, Fisher, Logue etc?

The only players coming here in the bottom 3 are mercenaries that know they are done elsewhere and want a pay day.

Im sure Wilkie would love a 5-6 year deal at 30 on $900k a season, I've no doubt Clarko would be desperate and stupid enough to do it to. Pity he will never be here to suffer the consequences of it, like the fans are..

St Kilda shipping Wilkie off, is exactly what we should be doing with Larkey, Simpkin or Zurhaar if someone is stupid enough to do it.
