A reliable poster who got it right last year indicated otherwise today, alot depends on Curnow.
l would rather this strategy than bringing in a whole bunch of fringe players that we have been linked to.
So it was stated we will be taking draft picks and picking draftees outside of fs’ and academy players? I haven’t read that anywhere

Outside of our fs and academy, I don’t believe we will go to the draft. Do rate Dovaston though

Nobody suggested otherwise. We're not linked to anyone high profile. Until then we're taking it to the draft.
Ummm yes, macky99 definitely suggested otherwise. Hence the conversation. I still maintain I believe we will not go to the draft other than for our fs and academy players

LOL! Calm down:

And draftees of those types will also be very costly unfortunately... too costly in fact, unless we do offload Charlie Curnow...

Let's be real here, it's not like Gov, Lij or Motlop will return the currency required.

Only other option is the TDK compo pick, but we'll probably hold onto that anyway.

And we'd be absolute fools to trade our 2026 1st now...

The main concern i am trying to highlight is, if we dont draft these types or we dont try and trade for them, we will stagnate.

I get we get Dean and he’s tracking well as a 3rd tall or KPD which is always good and Ison who is more speculative but again is tracking well but we aren’t going to uncover players like i mentioned unless you draft or trade for a lot of them.

I would be looking to be simultaneously raising our floor while trying to get some more A grade talent, and resetting our cap. Imo the best way to do that is hit the draft until Tassie come in. E.g. drafting Smith, HOF, Duursma, Dean, Ison, Walker is preferable to spending up on a FA now. Bank the cap space and attack FA in a few years when Smith etc have 2-3 years in the system. Raise the floor with some value for money picks like Acres has been. If we can get pick 2 this year we have a shot at a solid draft haul and a leg up on other sides in what is considered a weaker draft.

Problem is the value-money picks need to be able to kick, counting out the likes of Acres this time around.

FA can be hit next year, where we’re holding all our aces for the draft (if allowed to play).

Agree, was talking more about theory, not the application

A bit on both likely. We prob needed to be more patient in readying / conditioning him towards playing AFL for the L/T vs S/T gain.

We had Jack Russell, renowned as one of the best but no good fortune.
Personally i believe that the method with rushing players straight back in after injury some being repetitive including for long periods of time, fall more on the shoulders of the very people that rush them back in through selection…

Look at the ongoing pattern in which the match selection panel continued to favour senior or B23 team players, instead of implementing a logical process to ensure players are managed properly when coming back from injuries…

So as a guess, Llyod Voss Hansen Cripps would have to have been all responsible for the way in which the team was selected, each individually having their own opinions and agendas with why and who should be selected, favouritism seemed to heavily out weight practical commonsense and integrity…

It’s been obvious along with certain players continuously played although their poor form has warranted being dropped, over a large number of multiple weeks…

A core root problem, that causes multiple others…

Sounds good in theory but in terms of getting Smith, it cost us 3 good picks and a depth forward.

To get ahead of a bid for Dean, I will again cost picks and a possible depth player.

It’s hard to build depth if we have to trade the good ones and see left with the contract mistakes.

I just want to see us target some fast half forward types, or X factor types, by that I mean drafting 3/4 as history shows lots will fail.

C.Curnow now linked back to Suns Jed Walter
Think curnow does want a change.....maybe gone soon
Walter high draft...very explosive quick....confident /aggressive
Good set shot.....possible A grader

Charlie is elite tho....he can ping a dart from 60m off one step.....actually elite easily
Maybe Walter and Flanders.......
Done?

I think the Jury might be out on this CB. The look on Hardwick’s face is priceless…
