Apologies for any inconvenience. We will try to find a replacement.
PA would match any offer next year to force a trade. This year or next they will be getting good value for butters
Having said that, I am dead keen to try this year if we are thinking of him next year anyway. If Charlie is leaving turning him into butters would be good
“We don’t rebuild, we renovate”They'd rather stuff the club for that ultimate success... knowing that they'd be gone by the time the shit hit the fan.
I've said a few times in the past that if John Elliott had retired as president after the 1995 final and we elected a board to bring us into the modern game, we would have been a lot better off. But Carlton has always been about bringing in the players to top us up.
It's not critical.Critical that our TDK pick comes before Dean. We definitely need to turn TDK and JSOS into 2 first round players (including Dean).
Luckily Dean does look like a perfect fit for our main requirement - CHB who can kick. Although obviously he'll be very young next year he'll be a 10+ year investment.
With the other pick we need to find a clever good ball user. Murphy Reid-type player.
It's not critical.
It would be better if Dean was not bid on until Pick 50, but we can't control that. So don't stress on it.
St Kilda could bid on Dean. Essendon could bid on Dean. If they do then we need to have TDK's compo pick ready. We still have the JSOS compo pick to use on another top 20 pick.
If they don't and Dean is still there when our turn comes up we pick best available with TDK compo pick and then match Dean when he is bid on with JSOS compo bid, Pick 34 and Pick 44 as necessary.
It's swings and roundabouts in the end.

Minus the Gumby look & dreds. Would absolutely nail him if he was the opposition. Ferret like.Get me two Gryan Miers types please.

Unless coterie members have an astute knowledge of the game/gameplan/players available & benefit to our side they should get back in their box. If you’re wealthy and want to support by all means put your hand in your pocket but understand your influence when most likely not asked for is & has destroyed this great club. Support silently (for the most part) like the rest of us plebsWe need to bin off the coteries as "influencers" at the club in the decision making process. The moves that netted us Jagga were the sign that the coteries aren't pulling the strings in the background. Unfortunately, Doc was a tool within the club of the coteries.
If we'd listened to the coteries, we would have been trading in senior level players who might have been like Jack and chasing a big end of career contract.
I think that the club is going to have a sitdown with Charlie and his management and tell them that if Charlie performs at his best next year, we will allow him to be traded out to the club of his choice for the price we demand. It will be a very good deal for us because it will possibly put us into the top 5 in the draft and will let us get Cody and another very good player without an issue.
That's why we have picks so that we can match the bids. Don't stress on it. We can't control where the bids come out. We just need the picks ready. If we’re holding the TDK pick (which will end up roughly 13) in the draft, there is zero chance a bid for Dean doesn’t come prior.
The draft is not poor. It just has a F/S and NGA players that are high up in the rankings. So that will push many teams' picks lower. If we know it will get swallowed up we can trade the TDK compo pick for bombres / dees future first? As this draft is supposedly poor it may work out much better.
Houston would be thinking he dodged an even bigger bullet.Dodged a bullet with Houston, has been deplorable.
We paper over the cracks with 100 dollar bills.“We don’t rebuild, we renovate”

I feel like I've been thinking this for years "drafts some guns and we are set". Next minute, Walsh and Kemp are the only ones still on the list from the 2016 - 2021? DraftsWe're going to get two top 20 picks due to FA compo (barring FS/NGA adjustments). One pick goes to Dean and the other one goes to Grlj, Greeves, Ludowyke or Dovaston. Our Pick 34 goes to Ison and Pick 44 goes to next best available. Get four quality kids in each year and we will soon be back. We were unlucky this year with Jagga. He could have had an instant impact like Judd did.
I believe you but I'll also believe it when I see it. I've done and am still doing it for an NRL club and they are barnacles that kick and scream and fight and lawyer up before they let go.And he's removing the power of the coteries as well.
Nope. Not even then. They aren't in the building nor aligned on the direction and plans. Too many cooks is too many cooks especially when they override people because of money. I don't care how well they know the game. **** off and let the team employed do their jobs without overrides or hand grenades being thrownUnless coterie members have an astute knowledge of the game/gameplan/players available & benefit to our side they should get back in their box

Putting himself up for selection is one of the more selfish things I've seen at our club.Insightless by docherty. Perhaps his selection in last years elimination, Houston's form and the unavailability of Marchbank, cunningham and Martin would have made him aware that youth was a better strategy
I don’t think you understand my post. That's why we have picks so that we can match the bids. Don't stress on it. We can't control where the bids come out. We just need the picks ready.
Why do you think Gold Coast have Picks 6, 12 and 15? That's so they can cover bids on their academy picks. If Uwland is bid on at Pick 1 then they are ready.
Yep that's my feeling too. Once draft Is done, so is either Agresta or Austin, perhaps both.I don’t see how Austin and team survive after the draft.
We have Collingwood with space last year to spend about $1.7M on two players, as well as Shultz the year before.
We have the premiers about to sign a free agent for $1M and possibly Draper and linked to Ridley
The Hawks have a heap to burn
The cats heavily linked to Marshal
The Dogs offering over $1M for Wilkie
It’s an absoluteshow, two years in a row we added F all to the list. I’ve said it many times, the club over corrected from the reckless SOS and went with a roll over with no gumption

Geelong is the only side that would make him look good.Easier to play well in a well structured side and less reliance on you. That Jack Martin bloke looked alright last night. Someone like that would be good.
A bit on both likely. We prob needed to be more patient in readying / conditioning him towards playing AFL for the L/T vs S/T gain.Jack Martina is an elite talent and we were all aware of his natural ability, unfortunately we just could not manage nor motivate him to perform.
