And if he does the club still needs to strip him of his captaincy
Petroro iircSome player managers also have influence, not sure who is Merritt but there’s some you do not want to piss off by being unrealistic!
He has spoken to numerous other clubs over the years, not something a club captain should be doing IMOwhy lol
Can you at least wait for him to actually ask for a trade first?
The guy was on AFL 360 2 months ago saying he was committed. Until he asks for a trade what is he supposed to do? Send flyers out weekly?

Nope but in my current job there is zero tolerance for shopping yourself around and if found out I’d be out the door that afternoon.Have you only ever had one job? lol
I disagree.
He is entitled to shop himself around to get the best deal for himself, not just financially but also the success he wants. I guarantee you he isn't the only AFL captain who is doing it.
ZM is just in a unique situation where the club consistently feeds him bullshit and doesn't deliver on their end of the bargain - he has played over 250 games.
Have you only ever had one job? lol
I hold no grudges if he asks to leave, i just want the right price from it for the club.
You are gonna get all types of answers here delusional or realistic asideWhat is the right price?

Bulldogs 2014, been there done that (also had no coach or CEO).Imagine the shame associated with your captain and best player wanting to jump off a sinking ship?
Id base it around the Tom B trade with a bit more coming to usThis is the question.
Realistically, his output deserves multiple first round picks. He’s your captain, so more might be asked for.
But he’s 30 and won’t see any success in the near future and is on a fat contract.
To me, a 1st and a 2nd is around the mark, but I can see pride getting in the way on the Essendon side.

for me id be happy with 8 + F1 - keep in mind your F1 is likely to be pick 15 - 16 next year for him like some other hawks posters have said but i am just a nuffy whether or not thats what happens is another case
Also currency wise we have some much cap space we could pay for it if it meant a deal was met etc
Hopefully pride does not get in the way realistically this is a good chance for us to do what we should have done back in 2016

If Essendon do let him go and maximise their return it may work out in the long run.
We don't need Reeves. But if you think a VFL ruck, VFL midfielder, a first round pick that will end up in the mid teens and a shuffle of picks will get one of the best contracted players in the game...Now that Draper is gone, I'm expecting Reeves as part of the trade.
You guys are also talking to Hustwaite.
Pick 8 will be involved.
A shuffle of picks.
not sure at the end of the day just hoping our pride doesnt get in the wayI don’t think we’ll want to give up a future 1. If Worpel compo is end of first, that might be the middle ground. But again, I just think there’ll be too much pride involved.
True, in more ways than one. Traditionally guys with rough heads have been fan favourites at the kennel.Oh absolutely. But the Dogs aren’t the kind of team who has historically cared about winning the optics war, unlike Essendon.
What is the right price?

I’m happy for him to leave but I also am not too blind to think we should or would gets a Kings ransom for him
With Dodoro and Sheeds no longer being involved most of us hope this changes and we focus on things that could benefit us rather than get a winning headlineOh absolutely. But the Dogs aren’t the kind of team who has historically cared about winning the optics war, unlike Essendon.
Not disagreeing with Hustwaite, but Reeves would be a large upgrade on Bryan. We don't need Reeves. But if you think a VFL ruck, VFL midfielder, a first round pick that will end up in the mid teens and a shuffle of picks will get one of the best contracted players in the game...
He admitted he spoke to the Saints last year. That alone should have seen him lose the captaincybesides Zack hasn't said anything. All this is speculation at best.
Pick 8 which will be outside the top 10 after compo and bidding and 2 fringe players for a captain,AA and multiple b&f winner and still contracted for another 2 years. Now that Draper is gone, I'm expecting Reeves as part of the trade.
