2025 List Management Discussion - Part 3

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

2025 KEY DATES
Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th

Bloody oath! Would love that, but seems unlikely to happen.

Main points from the Wilson vid:
  • Caro understands that there will be an All-Vic game on Sunday night (Labour Day eve) at the MCG in Opening Rd
  • Pies are petitioning to stay at home for the coming Opening Rounds
  • Will defo be 2 Queensland games and 2 Sydney games plus this MCG match
  • St Kilda is proposing to play Collingwood every year in Opening Rd as a Spud's Game
  • Next year will be the 60th anniv of our GF win vs Pies, (our only cup in case we forgot, thanks Caro)
  • Club view this event as perfect opportunity to launch the documentary we'd started making directly after Nas extended his contract
  • Dogs (once again) are all "What about meeeeeee?" - I'm guessing they've been working on their proposal forrrrrrrr about a week - Demons also trying to get in on the act
  • There could be an international music guest being on the bill as well (Meat Loaf might be free*)
  • This will be part of St Kilda's consistent recent campaign to play more at the MCG, this is our only request with the fixturing.
*relax that was a joke
Don't they do that for every round?

Heading towards bed soon and I can't unsee that. F U Spacey lol 😘 🤣

Our leadership right now is on point.

Finally something to smile about today. It’s been miserable here recently. We need more joy not a downward spiral of negativity. We have had enough of that in our history, may as well see the positive in the offseason where nobody can prove we have lost anything…!

Go Saints!

More importantly, Saints targeted TDK specifically to pair him with Roma, not replace him.

So if we're going to backtrack on that tactic, it'll need a bloody juicy offering.
Maybe they did but things can change. If Marshall can be effectively replaced within what seems to be a 2 year time frame then he becomes tradebait.

This is genuinely spiteful, just like the Jake Neill article. I am genuinely confused as to why it pisses people off so much that we are just trying to improve. I can’t get my head around it.
Guy has really dropped down the media pecking order he is desperate for relevance and it shows
Actually when you watch FC with him Loyd Maclure and it really does look like a B grade outfit. They’ve been out pointed badly by 7
Nothing article “I vigorously question…” guys a cuk

He's from WA isn't he? I really liked him in his draft year. Haven't really kept up with him recently.
You weren't the only one, we loved him in his draft year, tried to live trade to no avail.

Pretty sure he's had a couple of injuries but showed good signs this year when he got his chance. Isn't dominant by any means yet, but is on the right track.

Indigenous WA boy, we have had a bit of luck with those guys lately though.

Hewett is going to be a gun.

One of the last players West Coast would want to let go of.

Honestly, Steele and our 1st probably wouldn't get it done.

Get stuffed Barrett. If our new players wanted to go to North you’d be doing cartwheels. North will probably get Steven May to put alongside Daniel, Parker and Darling. How’s that on field leadership going?

I'd rather get players who teams don't want to lose 🤪

But really, if he was out of contract I'd have been pushing for Hewett and Ryan in a deal involving Steele - but yeah, its as unlikely as my messages to Amanda Anisimova being replied to.

Jack Steele was a top 10-15 player a few years ago, at 30 years old he should still have good football left, I think he has more value to the team than what he fetches in a trade.
If he wants to leave, then sure you accomodate that but I’d not push him out. If you can’t play him and Macrae, towards the end of the season Steele was playing better than Macrae anyway.
Marshall probably has more trade value and he does want to leave so I think we will lose him. Dodson and Keeler will step up.

What a wasted talent Billings was. Hard to tell if it was natural progression of others that left him behind, or gifting of games when he and others probably didn’t deserve it, which naturally made them think they had made it before learning what the actual hard work was.

Real lost era for the club

Unfortunately it was a case of bad timing for Jack.
Played under two of the least inspiring Coaches and at a time when our development was really bad.
He would have been a much better player in a better club than we were at the time.
