That's most of our list!
…Yeap and including our coaches

Our footy department needs a huge turnaround.

Would be nice for once if we developed a new game plan and other clubs were fighting over our assistants to get a hold of the IP

Like the hawks …

I reckon D'orazio has gone too hard early and Graham Wright will do him slowly

Kicking was supposed to be one of Cerra's strengths in his draft year. It hasn't translated very well in our side, under our game plan. I'm wary of spending for another inside footballer unless we are getting rid of one.
Why do you keep mentioning Cerra? I'm talking about adding McKenzie who is a better kick.

I mentioned him as an inside mid and then I mentioned him as a player with a huge rap on his kicking as a junior. Good kicks can suffer under our contested game plan, something McKenzie hasn't experienced at Hawthorn.

One thing about Walter that is already apparent is his effort and physicality.
He plays with a natural aggression and relishes the confrontation that comes with a KPF post.
We’ve been disrespected by the opposition in this regard for far too long and we won’t get far until it changes.
Cowan is a likely type in defence and O’Keefe shows signs in his game at this early stage.
A brutal, combative KPF has always made life easier for teammates around them, opening scoring avenues for naturally attacking types like Moir and helping the likes of Motlop and Durdin find separation from their opponents …

Aggression in a Carlton player, now there's something to crave for

I don’t think Charlie is the type of person that would cause issues and make it a toxic environment if a trade doesn’t happen which is the mostly likely outcome of this.
I agree that Charlie isn't the kind of person to create a toxic environment and rock the boat just because he doesn't get his way.

What I do think, though, is we'll see less motivation from him and less intensity - just like we saw this year. His efforts were frequently not AFL standard. I wouldn't be surprised to see more of that. Even when he was at his best he was known to drift in and out of games in terms of effort and intensity, which just got worse this year and now we know why. I don't think holding him in will help him turn that around.

really need to find a serious hard nut for our list in '26.

Think Duigan, Hickmott.... it makes such a difference to the team mentality...

Cowen shows some and Newman, Hewitt, then daylight.

Even some physical contact when spoiling wouldn't go astray, I feel we are a very "bruise free" team to play against.

But that doesn't mean they are equal right? You can't just dismiss a young player because Cerra was also a young player with high raps on his kicking. Where's the logic there?

We need quality players who can kick. McKenzie is on the outer at Hawthorn and might be gettable if we go hard.

We do need players who can kick, but he will cost something and plays in a position we have have depth in. I'd love for our outside runners to be the ones who can kick ideally.

It's an opinion.

Considering anyone in the AFL system has already gone through at least a decade of Auskick and junior development, if they haven’t picked up that skill by now, it’s probably never going to happen.

Which is why I want to draft runners with footskills.

Jesse is an interesting case study, you're not entirely against trading him, however there's no chance you'd get something worth letting him go for.

Only 21yo is Jesse and reckon there is still upside with him. Liked the small bursts through the middle in the latter part of the season. Would be disappointed if we don't sign him.

We want to keep Jesse and he has a 2 yr deal infront of him. He wants a longer contract and New Carlton does not offer them

The other factor is the needs of the clubs.

GC just made finals, and won their first one. They'll get another chance to see how they stack up against the best in September, and over the next few weeks will get a clearer idea of what they need to take the next step and push for a GF appearance and potential flag.

If they think they're close (and I think they are), the opportunity to pick up a dual Coleman-medallist in his late 20s (aka best years) doesn't come up often. If Charlie wants them, and they think he can be the difference, then Charlie is worth a whole lot more to them than a 20yo KPF who may or may not even be in their best 22 yet.

Qustion for them will be "How much of your future do you mortgage to potentially win a flag in the next year or two?"
I don't think they'll be in such a rush to mortgage the future. It's not like they're a middle aged to older team pushing for a final before falling off, they're very young and the window is only just opening. The idea they will be desperate to bring in some star to tip them over the edge isn't quite right imo, they will be looking more internally and aim to get a big boost from natural growth. Besides, they already have a 50 goal+ a year forward. Fwiw King has kicked 40+ goals a season more times than Charlie has.

From what I see, the Suns biggest issue is small forward and mid depth after the big 3. Mid wise, the likes of Rogers, Lombard, Humphrey and Davies taking another step forward will do a lot for them. The only position they really need to target externally for improvement would be small forward, hence the Jamie Elliott rumours.

Because of this I don't think they'll have the same views on needing to bring in a star key forward right now as opposed to allowing Walter/Read to develop.

We need to be able to run out the last quarter....this is where we have been falling down...amongst other things..

Wasn't the fitness guy from Sydney meant to fix this? We're seemingly a slow and injured as ever.

Love to know what his KPI's are. Fair to assume he didn't get a bonus this year.
