Heard a rumour that Will Mclachlan from the Lions has been linked to us

Intriguing...

"Selected with pick 6 in the 2024 Mid-Season Rookie Draft, Will McLachlan is an exciting young forward out of the Geelong Falcons. The 19-year-old impressed in the Coates Talent League throughout season 2024 being the leading goalkicker at the time of his selection to the Lions list. A consistent finisher in front of goal, McLachlan is a strong overhead mark with speed to burn. With strong work ethic and aptitude to improve he looks set to fit nicely into the Lions squad."

Featured in 6 games this season, but was subbed on or off in 4 of them.

DFA, perhaps? Steakknives in a pick swap? As a MSD pick who hasn't cemented a spot or had a real breakout game, his value would have to be as low as it could possibly get. Contracted for next year, but as a VIC lad maybe he's just not settling in up there and keen to move back home - if so, can't see Brissy fighting to keep him.

Flicks for footy cards, closest to the wall or card stands on wall for win…
Lee Street primary school, mates or then anywhere else there was a challenge…
Geez, I remember Flicks for cards. I lost all my Carlton cards to the big kid across the road. Mum marched me over and demanded that he give them back. Most embarrassing day of my life.

Talk of Petracca and Melbourne both being happy for him to be elsewhere next year. Wonder if there is anyway we can turn Charlie plus a pick, effectively into Trac and Walter.

He's one of those young players with plenty of talent that just can't a look in, so get incredibly frustrated and start looking elsewhere where they may get more opportunity.

Hustwaite from the Hawks another classic example. One of my gym buddies is a mate of his from down here on the Peninsula - told me months ago how frustrated Hustwaite was running around in he magoos, and was starting to look around. Funnily enough, we were apparently linked to him at some stage according to Ralphy.

McLaughlin could be a good cheap pick-up....the other I really rated in his draft year was Luke Lloyd, 193cm forward with plenty of talent who can't crack it into the senior side.

Cannot see Trac coming to us - even if only due to the drama and culture concerns. He'll want to go to a strong club humming and likely to see success (more likely).

Pies would be an easy option in my mind.
Collingwood or Geelong are the Clubs if a High profile Star is looking for Premiership Glory

In my opinion Gibbs was a very skilled footballer but only turned it on when he wanted to.
Just my opinion, but Gibbs could have been an all time great. Playing his career at the blues where we were pretty thin on talent and had many years of non finals footy meant that good players could go at 90% be guaranteed games and paid well. Also had some older guys not great role models.

Being taken in the same draft as Selwood I often thought of their parallel careers. Sometimes the cards we are dealt matter sometimes not.

I admired Bryce for his talent, skill, and team oriented approach but often though he could have added another 5% or so.

Easy to say that from the comfort of my lounge room though.

I was all for Trac last year...

But that's because it looked like we were in the window and ready for a top 4 push...

Now, it's clear that was a false dawn, so bringing in a 30 yr old Trac does nothing to help us move forward. Pass.
Yep, identical to you.

Wouldn't be even entertaining a deal for Trac, just doesn't make sense for where our list is.

You didn't see him single-handedly destroy us almost last year kicking five? Trac in our forward line would be amazing.
If we keep Charlie and get him back on board (say all options fizzle out and we're not happy with what Suns/Swans offer), I wouldn't be totally against Trac for a late first but his value is above that and more than what most would be willing to pay.

But it'll come down to where Trac wants to go, and I don't think that'll be us.

Very curious about this BBB Butters talk though. Won't go away.
