Would be okish depth but i rate our current half backs alot more than him. He wouldnt be playing much footy at the blues next year if at all so unless we get him for a packet of chips im saying no.

What advantage is there in publicly stating you want to trade a contracted player. They will both be traded and both clubs will attempt to get maximum return. Publicly stating Curnow has played his last game for Carlton doesn’t help us.

• very keen to stay a blue "not going anywhere".
• Charlie with his feet up in Mexico. It's a circus at this time of the year but looking forward to playing with him next year.

Exactly some people have no idea on list management have have no issues with a bit moneyball recruiting. Hawks are into a preliminary final doing it. Next yr is about resetting to get high profile free agents interested in coming to Carlton again

Aside from the possibility it gets bumped to 8 for the Draper compo, and then falls 3 more spots when Uwland, Patterson and Annabel get bid on (so it's used at 10-11), clubs won't let us take an extra top 10ish player as well as Dean.

Didnt someone, maybe Soapy V, write that we're only looking at taking Dean and Ison in the draft? I thought it was one of the ITK's that said this??

Ill make it simple. A player is contracted to a club until they are not contracted to a club

Its an interesting point you raise - is this acquiing depth also about providing an opportunity for the younger guys to develop further in the VFL? I would argue they have shown enough to play AFL but maybe need more time in twos
