Apologies for any inconvenience. We will try to find a replacement.
He'd be an upgrade on Doc's empty spotUnless we get can get CJ really cheap it’s a hard no from me. Basically a downgrade on Cowan.
Did Mick Malthouse write that???So essentially the Suns need a Charlie Curnow type, but don’t want to give up a Walter or Read.
Charlie doesn’t want to play at Carlton but needs to because he is contractually bound. Well, as Mick once said:
You can't always get what you want,
No you can’t always get what you want.
But if you try sometime, you'll find
You get what you need

Think we'd be going with both. Plenty of spots to fill and GW said we want to build depthIs it either CJ or Buku, or can we have both ?
He’s actually a bit soft and wasteful imo.
Feel the media get carried away. Reckon we can do better.
Would rather try others already on our listHe'd be an upgrade on Doc's empty spot
Don’t know whether you could play both in the backline in the same team. Could be a bit of a double Paul Bower scenarioIs it either CJ or Buku, or can we have both ?
Who would you try on the current list?Would rather try others already on our list
Would be okish depth but i rate our current half backs alot more than him. He wouldnt be playing much footy at the blues next year if at all so unless we get him for a packet of chips im saying no.He'd be an upgrade on Doc's empty spot
That’s a bit ruf! You've just described Charlie Curnow. LOL![]()
They’re the ones who have to come to us with an outrageous offer
Because i dont think we will accept “acceptable” for Charlie
Who says no?
Gold Coast receive: Curnow, Jack compo
Hawthorn receive: Merrett
Essendon receive: Flanders, TDK compo
Carlton receive: Jiath

What advantage is there in publicly stating you want to trade a contracted player. They will both be traded and both clubs will attempt to get maximum return. Publicly stating Curnow has played his last game for Carlton doesn’t help us.Club won't trade Charlie because he's contracted, Bummers won't trade the Captain because he's contracted! But are either committed.....?
How can either actually front up to the first training session of season 2026???
But they're contracted. right?
Exactly some people have no idea on list management have have no issues with a bit moneyball recruiting. Hawks are into a preliminary final doing it. Next yr is about resetting to get high profile free agents interested in coming to Carlton againThink we'd be going with both. Plenty of spots to fill and GW said we want to build depth
With full respect to Billy Wilson, CJ is an upgrade on himWould be okish depth but i rate our current half backs alot more than him. He wouldnt be playing much footy at the blues next year if at all so unless we get him for a packet of chips im saying no.
No.
Aside from the possibility it gets bumped to 8 for the Draper compo, and then falls 3 more spots when Uwland, Patterson and Annabel get bid on (so it's used at 10-11), clubs won't let us take an extra top 10ish player as well as Dean.
Did Mick Malthouse write that???
Ill make it simple. A player is contracted to a club until they are not contracted to a clubWhat advantage is there in publicly stating you want to trade a contracted player. They will both be traded and both clubs will attempt to get maximum return. Publicly stating Curnow has played his last game for Carlton doesn’t help us.
Its an interesting point you raise - is this acquiing depth also about providing an opportunity for the younger guys to develop further in the VFL? I would argue they have shown enough to play AFL but maybe need more time in twosWith full respect to Billy Wilson, CJ is an upgrade on him
