Honestly I hope the Bombers enquire about Samson and he requests a trade there to be the no.1 ruck. That would be a masterstroke by Blair the GOAT. Contracted and they cough up one of their first rounders... it could be like Ty Vickery all over again. The trade that keeps on giving.

Hear me out - Simpkin to Richmond might make sense.

Money is not a problem for us. We easily have the cap space to front-load a contract for him.
Term of contract is not a problem. We could give him 4 years, he turns 28 at the start of next season.
Position is not a problem. Our problem with Hopper + Taranto is spread from the contest and Simpkin offers that.
Leadership is valuable. Yeah, I know, #lolNorf. But he still got picked as captain.

Ahead of the inevitable cries of "what about Taj, Lalor, Smilie" etc. If your concern is that Simpkin will keep them out of the team / starting midfield then my response is GOOD. They are kids. It will take years for them to develop. They will have to earn their spot.

I don't have any idea what we would need to give up in a trade. A straight swap for Tylar Young would be worth it just for the melts!

He would add balance to the midfield with his outside spread but is he quick enough to make us better ... with Hotton(HF), Lalor (FP) and Smilie (wing) all being able to play roles outside the centre he doesn't keep them out of the team.

You make this move if you are going to make one more push at Finals with Lynch, Broad and Vlastuin over the next two years ...

They would probably like their pick back in this years draft for Simpkin ... would rather keep it and use on Duursma

If a contracted player requests a trade, they should not be able to dictate to the extent players are able to at the moment.

Instead of nominating a specific club, they should at most be allowed to nominate state and then the club can work out deals with clubs in that state.

Wont work. Player just says behind the scenes he’s not interested to that club, so vast majority of the time the club then won’t bother wasting resources on a player who doesn’t want to be there.
