I'm torn.

On the one hand, we cannot accept anything less than complete overs for Curnow. And I'm talking star player, young up and comer and a first round pick. Non negotiatable.

On the other hand, I don't want petulant, entitled, lazy, conditional footballers at the club. Obviously something hasn't been working with our cultural and connection so a fresh start under Davies and Wright is essential. However, I think it's clear there are issues with attitude of the playing group in terms of taking responsibility and accountability as individuals and a collective.

Curnow may just have to suck it up xbut I hope we get overs for him so we can ship him off.

Definitely not but giving him up for break-evens is actually a win because we'll get cap space and not have to worry about poor form from a top earner.
Agree there will be more to evaluating the trade than just draft picks and players, but if his contract was front loaded such taht current salary is low then maybe we won’t be clearing as much cap space

Nope, he can play vfl unless we get what’s overs as we cannot allow competition to get a star cheap because Charlie wants out.

The club isn’t going to let him rot in the VFL or become a distraction at the expense of a massive haul of picks. Especially in this transitional period.

We just need to adjust our expectations on what a trade deal will actually look like. It’s one thing to get a club to put up a star player, it’s another thing to convince them to play for Carlton. It’s just not going to happen.

I do think we can get a great haul of picks on top of Dean and bolster the bottom half of our best 22. Which is what I think will end up happening whether we like it or not.

If the end result of three best 22 players out (all of whom play structurally important positions) is a “haul of picks” in a weak/compromised draft, 2026 and 2027 are going to be very, very challenging years from a supporter perspective.

I’m not saying you’re wrong around the adjusting expectations, I agree to an extent, but we are not going to be a very competitive football side without some experienced players coming in to bolster the list.

4 yrs is a long time to sulk.

Yeah don't worry, when the trade doesn't eventuate... the club will help Charlie release a fluff piece about how much he loves the club and supporters... and of course, those gullible enough will believe him... just like they did when he "adamantly" stated that he wanted to stay a couple months ago :D

They’re going to be challenging years regardless. You’d rather do it with all players on board and do it before Tasmania enter.

Find some good kids over the next 12 months and then go big on free agency with our new found cap space. Things can change quickly.

You would hope so, hbf.

SOS held firm the first time Gibbs under contract wanted to go home to Adelaide and didn’t blink. Crows had to wait another 12 months and 2 R1 picks later to make it happen.

Bit of a test case for GW to make a statement and test his Carlton First philosophy.

History suggests GW is bloody good at this. A huge get for our footy club

IMHO, the longer this CC circus goes (as painful as it is) and the more clubs involved, the better our chances of maximising what we can get from a trade. The panic of our competitors’ fingers - who want Charlie - on their triggers is our friend! Furthermore, let Charlie and his manager squirm. How he has ever been in the leadership group is an indictment on the culture of our club!

Carlton, let clubs know what we want and just sit back and chill.

we need 3 top 8 teams who miss out to get serious and outbid each other, I think GC wins

Jack Martin and Dan Houston playing in a grand final.

TDK,JSOS gone.

Charlie Curnow wants out.

Other than that everything is good :straining:

There is no "longer for it to go on". Trade period is Oct 6-15. İt'll continue until then.
