My assessment of Docherty at the moment is a man who is a little bitter at the club because they forced his retirement.

In May he said he wanted to play on, in July he announced his retirement, I think Doc was tapped on the shoulder by coaches and list management and he probably feels a bit dudded by the club.

I think in time he'll come to the realization the time was right and I would love to see him back at the club in some sort of role after he's given media a shot.
Spot on

Did anyone else see doc on that live stream? He’s so adamant that we are going to be completely sh*t next year because we were dipping our toes into playing for the now and the future at the same time.
"Interesting off-season ahead, there are about 6-7 senior players out, and if you don't replace them with some good players, next year might be a bit tough."

This for you is 'adamant that we are going to be completely sh*t'?

I do not think those words mean what you think they mean.

And Mihocek & Elliott on the radar of others. Collingwood after Buller from SYD, you’d think as coverage/replacement for Mihocek (MFC offering 2yrs). Charlie West below as well.

Not sure if Elliott is cooked either. Still very capable.
Elliot was put into the leadership group this year and has had a ripping season. No way they let him go and no way he'll want to.

Far out, that’s what he actually said? Seems pretty reasonable and not remotely bitter. Some people are just determined to be negative and offended.

Just the difference in professional presentation is stark. Davies comes across as an elite operator

Davies and GW is an amazing partnership for the club. We couldn't be in better hands off field.

Now to get the balance of our list correct

Negotiations on the tenure for JE but he does have family in QLD and has done the tour before - though this time GCFC is in the mix (probably dollars could be tempting too, they’re openly after small forward/s).

Doc should never have made himself available for that final last year coming off that knee
And WE shouldn’t have selected him

Let’s hope all these dumb decisions are a thing of the past
At the time, loved the romance of it. But shows the club has been ruled by emotional decisions for too long and not practical, footy first ones focused on winning and integrity.

Is Jy Simpkin worth looking into? Mentioned in the media that he’s not happy, as he has not been getting as much midfield time in last couple of years. He’s 27, in his prime years. He’s the sort of player who can play in the guts, wing and forward. Some of our mids aren’t as versatile: Cerra and Hewett. Cripps’ kicking for goal is poor.

For the right price, i'd love to see him as a forward who runs through the midfield (70/30).

The only problem with this is our delivery to the forward line is probably close to the worst in the league.
Petracca’s own kicking is pretty woeful. Wrong end of the stats tree from him.

Sloppy disposal. Adding to an area of concern that already needs fixing.
Quite a few head knocks too and getting a glass jaw.

What did Doc say exactly on the stream?

He is starting to drop little sound bites around the media circuit since he's retired, none of which are positive.

He wants to be careful not to burn the goodwill he's earnt with the supporter base and start coming across as bitter and selfish.
I’ll go from a different angle, Doc is giving his honest feedback on the club, if he is saying negative things, it’s because he believes them.

We had a disaster of a season and I with many others called for Voss to be sacked but the club is sticking with him, if we have a well respected, quality player just retiring and now saying negative things, why not consider they might be true?

Doc did leave Voss at Brisbane, so maybe like many here, he just doesn’t rate him as a coach and like us, thinks the club botched our list management th past few years.

Thats interesting then, maybe that gives us more options for a 3club deal.

I don’t sorry.
Be shocked if he stayed. Best guess is they are trying to get the best price from either GC or Swans. Seems he’s indicated he’s happy with either which gives Carlton even more leverage (given he’s contracted).

I think they’ll get a good enough offer and I think they’ll take it. Instinct is they just want home gone now.
