Recommitted Buku Khamis [FA 2026] - requested a trade to Carlton, didn't get there

Good to know even when our targeted players are contracted, we still get to listen to listen to them spoken about as basically being out of contract anyway

He is a pre agent thats barely getting games - depends the value of contract. If the club value him $400-500k over three years for example then that would be similar value to Lewis Young that came in as pick 52. Lewis Young was alot younger and a key tall.

Lewis young - Out of contract - Dogs with no leverage.

Buku Khamis - Still under contract - Dogs with some leverage.

We aren't saying we need a 1st round pick or anything wild, but to just value a good young depth swingman that we have put 5-6 or so years of development in as pick 52, come on...

Apparently, Blues offering 4 years apx 600K per year so the first part of your post isn't quite right either unfortunately.

If players arent getting regular games and want to leave you have to let them go not ask for overs no other club is interested in Buku. We did the same with Setterfield, Stocker, Dow, Fisher etc.
What happens if lobb or Odonell goes down early next year ? Or Naughton or Darcy goes down ? We just trade him for peanuts to help Carlton out ?

How is a third round peanuts - trying to get away like bandits shouldnt be the game here. He's not getting games at the Bulldogs and Beveridge doesnt trust him in defence.. what choice does he have?
You only have brisbanes 2nd not your own

Khamis has played 41 games in 5 years?

Also 3 years older than Chesser.

What on earth is this post, lmfao?
Khamis has played 31 in the last 2 and is a contracted and a KPP

Chesser is lucky if he’s played 3 good games in 5 years

And?

3 years older and in his peak.

Handy role-player but unlike Chesser, not an injury-affected first rounder who just got his body right.

Khamis isn't b22, you don't get all that much for ressies players, even if they're contracted.

Their trade value is similar, solely based on contract status of each.

He wanted opportunity and we respected his wishes. There is zero interest trying to steal from another club when a players career is at stake. Different story with the top end of the talent pool.
If you want to respect his wishes while contracted you can pay the appropriate price. Otherwise you can respect his wishes in 12 months time. We are talking about Brisbane’s 2nd rounder, not West Coasts.

So Bulldogs want to destroy a players career thats VFL quality looking for opportunity?

So be it.. if Bulldogs demand a 2nd Blues need to walk.

Chesser is no different to any other failed first round pick in the last decade just another Petrevski-Seton Dow O’Brien Grainger-Barrass

He's had an ankle injury that he finally got over this year. Wiped out pretty much 2 of his 4 seasons at the club.

He's nothing like those spuds. WCE very much want to keep him, whereas Khamis is surplus to needs.

Not sure asking him to fulfil his contract unless we get a good deal is destroying his career. It’s business.

If he’s VFL quality why would Carlton even want him? He’d be best 22 in about half the teams in the league. Can’t get in our team in front for Darcy and Naughton, but we’d like to keep him as cover in case they get injured. Don’t think that’s an unreasonable position.

Carlton will give him opportunity - Bulldogs view him as VFL quality. You want 2nd rounders for your VFL players contracted or not... insanity has no cure - bye.

Incase you haven't noticed Carltons recruiting strategy this year, it's low cost moneyball players. We aren't chasing anyone currently worth first and second rounders in reality.
Khamis is talented but I'm telling you now he is not worth a second at the moment and I think if the trade talks went anything like this thread both clubs would just shake hands and walk away.
