The last thing we need is a Committee who’s actions are perfunctory at best.



Having worked with you and thewizardmelon closely in your sophomore seasons, I agree as to how helpful it would be.

It was something also proposed by Frederico_WA (a talented Fury) before he tragically and unexpectedly disappeared from the SFA altogether.



Having a united effort would seem almost essential, at least for the clubs needing support.

The competition as a whole surely benefits from seeing progress made towards common objectives.



Reward for effort is undoubtedly important in maintaining motivation.

I dare say, if the Committee don’t start to take such genuine and heartfelt intentions seriously, they could easily end up losing control of the agenda …

… unless that really is their agenda and we’re falling for their cunning ruse?

I remember Frederico_WA well from my first season here in the SFA.
Lovely and very funny guy, he is missed and I hope he is doing well out there in the RW.
What more can I say re the committee that I haven't said already.
Yes, it's so totally self defeatingly pointless to not even attempt to fix that problem that has been identified for years by many.
What is so scary about it.
That there might be a bit more competition.
Or is absolutely everything here seen as a competition to the detriment of everybody else or any progress.
BTW was the Rookie award night run last season? I can't recall seeing it.

TBF most of the teams are pretty consistent looking at the last 6 seasons



Hawks, Furies, Roys and Swamprats are the current sliders.

It wasn’t for a lack of trying, but there were only a few rookies, like this season.

Without winners last season it’s harder to call on any obligation to give back to the new rookies

I think give them a chance to help set up an all-female qooty team and kick off the 14th team could even concentrate on music if they want, would assist in recruiting new players or returning players from the SC, or other music threads

At Spotswood we actually have an individual who looks after rookies. Mrs Turbo is Head of House and has a private PM with the OOB rookies and lets them know weekly what is going on and explains things in a way they understand and is also available for any questions they have outside of our team PM. I also think that as a whole the SFA should also engage the rookies as a group and develop comradery between them to help make them feel included in their first season in what can be a hard place to figure out.

yep - Pamcake1 I like helping out the nOOBs to get the lay of the land. And there are loads of resources from the more experienced predecessors for them too

And when I was a rookie, I recall that Kilroy was instrumental in helping us out with the rising star, (despite Sun-ra having a big tantrum at the time)

There has to be room for both. While turbo is right, the onus ultimately falls on the captains, it can’t hurt the league to have some form of setup/intro/other that assist rookies initiating into the SFA.

Originally when this topic started, I reached out to Pam to see if she’d be keen to collab on a task this size, but the timing isn’t quite right there. I don’t see it as a task all clubs need to be involved in, just takes a handful of people to set something up, run it by the league admin and/or committee (not for approval, just thoughts) and then see what takes.

Inaction is the worst path of all. In my experience, having now had the hindsight of experiences at multiple clubs and captaincy/LG, the quality of rookies is giving a diminishing return.

It’s not as simple as “recruit more, and you end up with more good ones”. I think it should be more about finding ways to maximise the value of all that try to enter the SFA. We’ve got a ton of Collingwood fans personalities in here that would otherwise never get to mix.
