I am assuming you’re talking with our second pick? Depends who we took with our first. If we took a speedy player I’d like Greaves but if the player was a slower type like Sharp then I’d take Cumming.

Clearly our midfield is a deficiency. North absolutely flogged us in the midfield at the end of the year and we had zero AFL listed mids in the VFL at the end of the year. Must be a priority.

Couldn't agree more we have clearly the worst midfield in the comp and only Lalor and Hotton in behind, that we could have any confidence in becoming decent players, and they both look like they might be more value forward. Mids and Mids please. I think they club will go this way as Yze mentioned in recent interview we were stocked for KP players and were looking to draft this year to compliment the players we took last year.

I'd go Sharp and Robey if we get that option we can try and trade in outside run like Hawks did.

Prestia will retire end of next year and we need to shift Hopper off for whatever we can get. Taranto is good and plays multiple positions.

CDT is a bit of a unicorn in that he can play ruck but is amazing around the ground too.

But I agree. We have plenty of players who can rotate through the ruck, but we need a dedicated number 1 ruckman this year.

It's why I wanted Dodson last year with the pick we took Sims with.

If our recruiting department are worth their salt we can get Dodson next year in trade period. We should actually be a very attractive prospect to a young ruck with Nank probably in his final year 2027 and only competition for the No. 1 spot will be Ryan, lol.

Saints will have just signed TDK for another 7 years why wouldn't Dodson be looking elsewhere for greater opportunity and a 30's type pick would get it done. Moyle from GC another option but will be a harder sell with Witts ageing and GC on the rise.

Robey and Cumming. Maybe Cumming has dropped of some radars due to injury, but plenty were talking him up as top 5 after his SANFL exploits.
Grlj would also be a good fit for us.

the way he plays. Inside workhorse and outside burst, loves the contact, loves a tackle, line breaking etc. Noticed he missed a few targets by foot but when you are amassing up to 40 possessions a game guess that's gunna happen.

Cumming also impressive. The socks down and playing style on the inside reminds me a bit of Rowell big time but he seems a bit lighter on his feet on the outside. Great overhead mark like Robey.

Honestly would be fine with any of these two at our picks or Sharp.

If we can get back into the first round in the early teens somehow it would be good and who knows maybe Grilj or even Lindsay might slide, either who fill a need.

The word is we have spent perhaps the most time with him from a contact perspective. This came from a relative of his. We think he is a real talent for the future.

Someone else made this point (not sure if it's been made in this thread), which I'll reiterate here:

Since Robey started around 175cm (which would've been roughly how tall Boomer was when he played), Robey would've had to learn and train to use his body in contests the way you expect a smaller midfielder would. As that's how he has developed throughout his junior career, his sudden growth spurt wouldn't change that, so he is effectively playing like a small combative midfielder, but with the physical traits of a taller player with a bigger frame.

This is probably the opposite to someone like Smillie, who probably has had a physical advantage throughout his whole junior career, so once he gets to VFL/AFL footy, he needs to learn how to use his bigger frame better in contests.

If Smillie gets his body right and comes good at AFL level, a Robey - Smillie combo at contests can be very dangerous.

If you split you are still likely get one of the first group AND your choice of the second group. Plus Robey!
All depends on the recruiters ranking. If Cummings/Grlj/XT is rated substantially higher than the next group, you definitely do not risk losing best talent. If our recruiters think there is little difference or high upside with players like NHH, OT, Poo or Barker then it could mean you get a third top talent. I’ll trust the process.
