2025 List Management Discussion - Part 4

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

Those unhappy with potentially (I think it’s part of the deal at minimum) pick 7 to get Flanders need to do all their research on his 2024 season.

If and you are assuming the club thinks it’s easily doable that he gets back there. Thats easily a top 10 pick in a draft as good as last years.

Everyone needs to also keep in mind that pick 7 will blow out after academy and father sons and this year's draft is not great. When our pick ends up being a pick around 11, are you getting a player as good as Flanders (who is only 24)? The odds say no.

The interesting thing with Marshall is that we haven't been linked to any other rucks. So we're going to be losing Boyd and Heath, if we lose Marshall we absolutely MUST bring in a ruck, but we're not linked to anyone it seems. Makes me wonder if we actually have no intention of trading him.

I think we could possibly ruck Keeler and Dodson if we managed them through if TDK went down. We had back up ruck this year and gave him one game and then rushed a rusty Marshall back in.

He's 7 who everyone suddenly treating like a 9 because he looked our way.
His player rating in 2024 was in the same area as Gulden Holmes Richards Kelly and Sinclair

Above Walsh Brayshaw Dunkley

Same amount of coaches votes as Sinclair

More than Rozee Sheezel Richards.

Whatever way you cut it. His best footy really stacks up - both statistically. Via data modelling and impact in games (coaches votes)

Player ratings overrate half backs where he played a lot in 2024. The coaches votes are a good sign but that fact it's such a short sample size and he's got none of the accolades any of those other players you've mentioned have are more illustrative that he's a level below them rather then in a similar conversation.

He couldn't back it up and Gold Coast actively pushing him out of those positions this year. He's good but not elite.

Flanders at Pick 7 aint great but the news means CMac aint happening this year IMO

need to wait to see what the entirety of the trades look like. Pick 7 on its own aint good but if stuff is coming back it makes it more palatable.

Dodson is going to be an absolute freak. No issue with him been our back up. He will be ready in no time. Fast tracking him will not be a issue

He landed coaches votes in 13/22 games.

He was moved into midfield almost exclusively in the last 9 games of 2024.

He polled votes in 6 of those games and they totalled 29/44 of his total coaches votes.

It’s no shame to be pushed out of the suns midfield this year. They had a Brownlow medalist and an all Australian in there and then he has had to fight for minutes against the likes of Touk Miller, Fiorini, Davies, Humphrey etc.

It’s hardly a poor sign and explains why he is gettable mate.

Cant see why Gold Coast wouldn't demand a premium, they don't want to help out a competitor out of the goodness of their heart. I can see 7 and 18 for Flanders and 13 working, but that does involve trading Marshall which may not be in the clubs plans.

This is not to say that I don't think the club should try and get best value, I just think that realistically, 7 for Flanders is a win win, and should be seen as such
7 and Marshall, for 13 and Flanders. A tough pass l think.

If they were starting players like Fiorini or Davies in the midfield over him, he's loses high priced trade status.
