Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

My point is if you take 6 first round draft picks and 4 turn out guns that a decent return/ strike rate. The issue is if you trade up and only take 3 first round picks and only 2 turn out guns that's a big deficit in your list.

At the end of the day, Charlie is an amazing footballer on his day but he’s isn’t exactly clutch or overly committed to us.

Where the club is at right now, smart money is to cash in on max value now.
Yes it hurts but u don’t get something for nothing & to get the biggest return for a gun player is to trade them when they still have great footy to play & be heavily contracted.

Of course we're not going to budge... why the hell should we?

We will sit back and see the absolute best offers that come our way for Charlie.

Either way, two 1sts + Hayward is a pretty decent start
Add Campbell and I’d seriously consider it

Looks like it will be Sydney with their 2025 and 2026 1sts along with Hayward (have previously mentioned this). Half expecting Dattoli to be added due to our need for another forward.

Expect us to package their 2025 1st with our TDK compo to move up to 2 from West Coast.

The Curnow trade will get done like I’ve mentioned numerous times
I'd want Dattoli in that deal for it to be worth it, otherwise they can swing us the 2027 1st rounder as well.

Packaging - what will be before bids - 10 & 11, Acres (and something else?) for 2, 16, and Chesser feels like a mistake to me, I think we've got Dean paid for with a late first or the SOS pick and change, because I don't see a bid coming before those picks. Right after those picks is the earliest I have it.

If St Kilda trades out for Flanders, that's two picks ahead off the board, and it's too early for Richmond and Essendon to look away from all the mids on offer. Hawks are the only wild card, and they have absolutely no need for him.

We should be looking to come up with a package involving pick 11, Acres and McGovern and just stick with 2 (or 3 if they get granted a first round pick they have to trade). Some later pick swaps and maybe our 2026 2nd to close the gap?

Can't see Richmond making a move for that Eagles pick, and Essendon will be too busy trying to secure targets and negotiate a Merret trade alongside lacking anything to package with either of their two 1st rounders given their academy kids.

Yep you have but no it won’t.

So are you saying it'll be 2 firsts, Hayward, and Dattoli? Or 2 firsts plus Hayward or Dattoli?
I’m of the belief that it will be Sydney’s first this year and next. I also believe Hayward is a player of interest for the club and a lot will depend on him. I’m also saying, I think the club should also tell Sydney to include Dattoli.

I’m only going off information that is being told to me by a few very good people I believe have a good understanding of the current situation.

If the Suns get pick 7 for Flanders, and they are for real in getting Charlie, look out. It would change things up for Sydney and let’s see who puts forth a better offer. Lots to play out over the next month

Appreciate you sharing even if I don't agree with the move. It's not personal :).
I just love the club like we all do and hate seeing our on field performances so poor for so long.

This guy? Who signed a 5 year contract less than 15 months ago?
Yes him. Was close to coming to us as I mentioned

Turning 27 next month. Will be be part of our next premiership push? If not look elsewhere

Players are going well into their 30's now. So I am a little less concerned about that

Just take Robey after bidding on the Qld NGAs
Honestly hoping West Coast bid on them at 1, but that would wipe out all of Gold Coast's first rounders plus the Flanders boon.

If they're allowed to slide down to pick 2, that's 740 points off Gold Coast's bill, but their entire draft hand eaten away without St Kilda's pick (though they have Fiori compensation coming in, and presumably other trades).

Even then, you're left hoping that West Coast don't take Robey.

Yer. However it seems very unusual for any bids at #1 these days.

I think if one of those firsts is a future top 4 one, obtained from WC, Ess etc. then that would be close.

What St Kilda doing are interesting. They’ve paid under the cap in recent years, and now banking the underpayment, so they’ve now got over the cap to spend on big names and become an exciting destination club. I hope it fails, but I credit them for having a go. Blues are stuck in no man’s land mediocrity and overpaying average players.
