I don’t see the issue.

They are paying Flanders what we just re-signed Zurhaar for and I guarantee you LDU’s North contract isn’t far off the top numbers they have put out. As they were the one we were keeping out…

They are just spending the numbers on better players

We have spent massive money on salary dumps in Darling and Daniel. Or do we have selective memory?
You think the money spent on Silvagni, TDK, Aleer and Flanders is well spent? We’d have Tristan Xerri for sub $1mil per season and he’s a better player than TDK. Would you rather Paul Curtis on 5 x 800k or Silvagni? Is Leek Aleer a better player than Toby Pink? Rowan Marshall and potentially Wilkie out the door. North will be spending fairly consistently at the floor of the salary cap while St Kilda will be stretched moving forward.

Proof will be in the pudding but I’m not sure many are looking on at St Kildas list management decisions in jealousy at the moment.

Daniel and Darling's deals are nowhere near anything the Saints are paying these guys. That's ludicrous.

Sam butler still out of contract at hawks get him to come with serong

Littlejohn would’ve spent a lot of time coaching both
This is what I have missed; there's no greater love affair in history, which compares with your love of other teams spudley spuds.

It's a talent!

Aleer can't defend, TDK is a coward and they're shoving a better ruckman and a better defender out to play for them. Irresponsible spending
Liked for use of Coward, only. An underused word, if I say so myself.

900k a year.

Even just from a marketing point of view they will drum up a lot of memberships and get a huge amount of eyes on their games.

But this feels a bit like what Port did a couple of years ago or maybe over the space of a few seasons.

Either the rest of the playing group at the saints will buy into this - in hope they will be heading to a flag. Or they will become disgruntled with being underpaid by comparison.

I would be into Steele 100% good defensively, runs all day, team first leader. He will be a big loss for them if he goes.
Or a bit like we did with the additions of Waite/Dal Santo/Higgins

We had a solid core of senior players but lacked the A grade kids beneath them to reach the next level.

None of the Saints additions are needle movers so we'll see how much of a hit it gives them.

St Kilda actually gives you a good picture of why finishing off the year with some wins is important for bringing people in. They won 4 of their last 5, and even thought those wins were against Richmond, Dons, us and Melbourne (where they were putrid for 3 quarters), they were still wins. They also put up a quality showing against GWS, who could probably be excused for looking towards finals and not respecting the opposition.

So they finish the year on a roll, and people outside the club see it may be a place to not only get some coin, but potentially some future success.

You had me until the last few words, we're still discussing the St.Kilda FC, yeah?

How are we not in the conversation for Flanders....He'd get plenty of genuine midfield time with us.
You can only be "in the conversation" if he's "interested in being in the conversation".

Apparently we've been into him for 2 years, but at this stage, he's not been very receptive....... so I'm told.

Anything can still happen I guess.

Who’s the better player Maley or scaife ?
Finnbar's ceiling is somewhat interesting, hasn't been with us that long and is still a work in progress, his pack marking is quite good at this stage, Jasper was an okay WAFL forward before coming to the Hawks, Finnbar is the better player in my opinion and has further scope for improvement.:)

Pretty disappointing for Former north fans to turn their nose up at their boyhood club

What's with these BFNAAK blokes who go to these expansion teams (or any team for that matter) and then turn their nose up at us.

Strange. Considering that Signor Rawling has been leading the charge in attempted negotiations.:stern look

Shame and he is a good player, but I don’t think he massively moves the needle for us. A lot of list improvement is going to have to come from the current cattle.

Yes agreed

It’s not like he’s a kpd/kpf or a speedy small forward

Ergh. That’s bleak.

Not sure how St Kilda of all clubs could be selling a better vision than us.

Managers must be playing a big part it encouraging their players to not even entertain our offers…can’t just be the small club stuff? Is it Rawlings? Is it the coach? Is it the exec?

Well, we all saw that earlier post about playing in front of a 80k crowd at the mcg v 20k at marvel. That epitomises the main issue.

Could aints backers be offering these managers kick backs

I get it when it’s Collingwood V North, like Houston last year.

But when was the last time the Saints got 50+k to a game.

I just don’t understand how they could be selling a better vision than us.
