Not sure how to feel about it, on one hand it feels like admitting he’s not ready to play, on the other hand probably better for team balance with Bruce and Marshall on the wings, Levi still in the middle until Neale comes on.

Certainly a decision that’ll be heavily judged by the outcome
Yep - Bez for Lachie isn’t a straight swap.

Gotta assume that the calf is perfectly fine, but it's just the 96 minutes of game time in 8 weeks... can't be properly fit.

If we end up 5 goals behind in Q2 though, having Neale as a lever to pull is huge. And if we're up and winning, just leave it till Q4.

I still don’t believe he’s sub.
Lineup confirmation is 3.5 hours away still, no rumours circulating of Geelong’s sub.
Hopefully they are trolling Ralphy and co.

Watching some 'footy pr0n' before kitting up and heading down to the ground.

Second quarter last year and then third quarter 2001.

If we win it will be one of the great performances.

Lachie sub makes a bit of sense to me as he’s not match fit. If it all works out he’ll come on in the 4th and just go for it. There’s a risk to starting sub, there’s a risk to starting him in the 22. Fine with whichever risks we’ve decided to gamble on.

Not so comfortable with this rumour about goal songs getting a run. Ridiculous decision for a GF

Eddie Betts saying pretty much you dont/can't come back from a calf tear in 3 weeks. We are treading a fine line with him startng as sub
I couldn't believe it throughout the week when he was named, but seeing him train at full tilt was pretty nuts. It's hard to believe he's up and about three weeks after that injury. For what it's worth, I really do hope that today's game is not decided by injuries. In whichever capacity Neale comes out, I hope he runs the game out strongly.

Good luck today boys and girls.

I am more comfortable with Neale being the sub than starting on the ground. We will know how we are at half time. If we are down we sub him on.

Better starting him on the ground and then having to sub him off during the first, second or third because his body fails.

He is obviously not fit to play 4 quarters so they are using him strategically.

Would like to know where Cleary got his info from. Either someone’s leaked it or he’s having a guess trying to look like a hero. I’d start Neale and play him until he’s cooked. You don’t have your best player as sub. I bet Dangerfield isn’t sub for Geelong.

Everyone has this info. Tom Morris leaked it last night, the same with xander.

You can certainly disagree with the decision to put Lachie as sub, but you can’t deny there is some logic behind it.

I have been a massive fan of our midfield mix without him so am stoked to see them get first crack. What a great “break glass in case of emergency” option to have.

Once we named him, we were already in the risk v reward realm. It was just a matter of what risks and rewards we wanted to weigh up. This feels the right one for what I am seeing as a “free hit” grand final for us.

I have no doubt some people will be ready to blame a loss entirely on this decision alone though. Who needs nuance?

Imagine the outrage if the young guns put the game out of question in first 3 quarters with a dual brownlow medallist cooling his heels as sub. Hope it comes true !
