2025 List Management Discussion - Part 4

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

2025 KEY DATES
Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th
AFL Draft: Wednesday, November 19th - Thursday, November 20th

So, now Mattaes has the motivation levels of a frail child with the Ross River virus? I am more worried about his near autistic desire to be great, which has seen his body suffer as a result.

The older you get, the more you realise most of these blokes with a platform have no idea what they are talking about.

have heard that Pou is a bit polarising with how dedicated and footy obsessed he is. Think it says more about those at the club with the issue than Pou. We want more blokes like him, here for the on field rather than the off field.
I have noticed that Matteas doesn't seem to be part of any of the cliques. But most importantly he needs to get his body right.

If my captain had been about to leave but couldn't get a deal done I'd not respect him even slightly. The fans make no difference. Your teammates aren't going to respect you if you aren't even fully committed to staying.

I'd strip his position as VC if he's been looking around even. Players can't have it all their own way.
Don't think he was looking around.
Sounds like Bulldogs approached him.

There's also a small whisper that Jack Carroll actually signed a 2-year deal with us so would be contracted for next year but I don't know if that's true or not (could be completely made up but just wanted to put it out there if anyone knows anything)

looks like it's true, he is on the list of free agents for next year. list spot squeeze is well and truly on

How is it bubbling away? Nothing has been said for a month.
Bulldogs surprised they are still in it? Didn't they give him an ultimatum to decide in a week a month ago?
They are not a serious football club.
The longer it goes on. The question that needs to be asked is, what are they willing to give up to do this.

If they aren’t willing to do what it takes. They only hurt themselves and that will support your last point

Leave Sunshine Coast, drive around Australia, to end up in Darwin. Put car in a shipping container and send it to Dili, Timor Leste. Drive around country and cross to West Timor (Indonesia). Then ferries to Flores, Sumbuwa, Lombok, Bali, Java and Borneo. Drive to Malaysia and Brunei, and back to Kuching Malaysia. Ship to Port Klang Malaysia (mainland). Then Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, China, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Georgia, Armenia and now in Turkey. Lots of twists and turns with border closures, disputes etc, but that is what we ended up doing. Tell your wife she is on the right track and it will be something you will always treasure that you have done. In three weeks we have been gone for 2 years. The plan is it will take us another 4-5 years to finish. So lots of other routes, adventures ahead.
Sounds absolutely unbelievable! Lucky, lucky you.

We did a back-packing one year, around the world trip just after we got married.
First time we ever came to Australia.
Best thing we ever did and even though it was a few decades ago I remember it so well.
Pre mobile phone and internet days 🤣using our "Let's Go Europe" etc, travel was a whole different experience to what it is now!

Had kids, so it took us a while to get back to it, but once the travel bug bites, it bites hard and we have done a fair amount since then. Always encouraged our kids to do the same.

Keep on enjoying.

If the Wilkie thing doesn't get shut down it just makes the Dogs look stupider when they don't offer anything decent up.
You're crazy if you think that Stephen Silvagni, a man known for holding people to deals, playing hard, forcing other clubs to play his game and being fickle as ****, has any thought about stringing the dogs along and disrupting opposition plans for the trade period.

I'm guessing it was heavily front ended given we weren't paying anyone else.
We had Hill and Hanners on big money and Crouch and Ryder had recently come across. Only a handful but not true that we weren't paying anyone else.

Bingo.

Put up or shut up.

The silence from the Bulldogs List Manager has been defeaning.

Why aren’t these clowns in the media talking to Sam Power about what the Bulldogs are doing and what they are prepared to do to facilitate a trade?

After all, the Bulldogs are the club who are stoking the Wilkie story.

We are clearly open to trading Wilkie at the right price. I'm as shocked as anyone by that but it is what it is. I guess we see it as an opportunity to get better. Doubt the Dogs are actually willing to trade anything we want though

You're falling for the Trade Radio bait. That was the most nothing Tweet, and there's going to be another 50 equally useless ones by the end of this week. Don't get drawn in

The Simpsons put it best:

Honestly, any player has a price to a team. Hypothetically, if the Lions came to us and offered both Ashcroft boys for Nas right now, would you do it?
