2025 List Management Discussion - Part 4

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th

And we’ve only just started
It’s Heeney isn’t it
Its Happening Ron Paul GIF

Surely the game still starts with the bounce
Im all for tradition but the bounce is really one of the less important aspects of our game. Its always thrown up in the local leagues due to the difficulty of doing it, plus the amount of time it wastes recalling when you have no time on games, and not once have I thought it would be better with the bounce.

IF it allows us a better quality of umpire Ill be all for it.

I think it's nice for Dogs fans that they've had their 2nd moral win of the trade period.

They won by not paying what was required to secure JSOS. And now they've won again by being used as a pawn by Wilkie's management to improve his contract.

Why improve your list when you can be superior by missing out on players instead.
Destination club. 😂

Thank you for leading the way x
Us boomers have been leading the way for you following, mainly more disappointing, generation's, for all.of your miserable lives.
Usually up the garden path, but leading none the less.
My favourite is we have led you into a climate catastrophe while you lot quibble about how many genders there are 🤣🤣

The Wilkie stuff is a storm in a tea cup. Also, let’s not forget, we’re basing opinions of Wilkie on accounts of what he has done by AFL JOURNALISTS.

I cannot think of a less trustworthy and sensationalist bunch. Remember Tom Morris “no one knows what Nas will do even today”.

Turned out Nas had told several people the previous weekend and an agreement had been reached…

Wilkie could just have feasibly never met with Beveridge or the Dogs. Or it may have all been done by his manager and he was just told “we’ll get your contract bumped up” and had nothing else to do with it.

I think just give him the captaincy. We will all move on pretty quickly.
totally agree,choices

a.put it behind us,name him captain, move on and hopefully up-YES
b.let it fester, have everyone know at the club hes being punished, appoint a lesser captain-in the dictionary this follows the saying"THATS SO ST.KILDA"

Seems like both JSOS and Wilkie had severe second thoughts on offers after meeting the coach face to face. Wonder why?
Stavro and St.Neil know. I am not surprised players are being scared off going to that club. I will be mightily surprised if Butters lands there.
Apparently Wilkie was going to meet Bontempelli AFTER meeting with Beverage.

Wilkie decided not to pursue that meeting.

Wow well that serves the Dogs right - karma is a bitch! I think the kid will be the next Bontimpelli he is that good, he will be a star that was over looked by plenty as he was only played as a wingman in his draft year. Beveridge is an absolute clown and with the list he has should have been top 4 for the past 2 years.

The kid is from Horsham so travel wont be an issue for him and if he can get a pay day like that so early in his career he would have to look at it. I would have been happy for our club to throw the Flanders deal at him, I actually think his upside his much higher than Flanders.
The next best thing now is that he comes to us.

Spinning like a tip for the unserious Bulldogs.
Bulldogs were bold in their pursuit. Turns out it was more embarrassing. Then he went on to say...
'Bulldogs didn't expect it to go as far as it did' said that like 3 times.
If the Bulldogs didn't think it would go anywhere they weren't serious as we have been saying for a month.
And define, as far as it went? There are at least 5 stages to trading for a player
1. Offer
2. Meeting
3. Acceptance
4. Trading with current club
5. Getting the deal done.

They got up to point 2 and are chuffed and bold and they think they are players 😅😅
Interesting after meeting Beveridge and his lackeys, he cancelled a proposed meeting with Bontempelli and said he would remain at the Saints. Wonder what changed 😅😅😅.
They are a laughing stock and if that club had any sense they would reign in Beveridge, but if there is a fall guy, it will be Power or Bains, he will burn them. Hope he never comes near St.Kilda again. Toxic individual.
