If all we get is a late round pick, I'd be hoping GC would take the entire salary which then means we can look at adjusting existing contracts and front load a few players now. This would mean we would have a war chest going into trying to get butters next year.

He will be off our books for Butters for free Agency anyway

JSOS is getting a 5 year deal or 850k and has played 29 games in 3 years

Butts is a solid depth player for Adelaide and played 25 games in 2 years and they want a 1st

Michael Regan said on the Danny/Boyd podcast that Buss has never done a pre-season in the 3 seasons he has been at the club. Hopefully he gets a clear run at it and does a full pre-season

100% worth our first pick this year considering how far it’s going to be pushed back.

A team who won the minor premiership are saying “we want to keep him” but our fans are “not worth the first”.

In my eyes he 100% is. We’re going to go into next season without a number 1 KPD and it’s going to show.

Merrett is contracted but all assume 'that'll just get done' to the Hawks.

So why can't we get a contracted Butts or Butters or Wilkie?

Ours always fall through. Need to go harder and be ruthless. Get them to do a Merrett where it's impossible to go back.

Give up a first for Butts and if that doesn't happen throw that and everything else at Butters.

Be bold and aggressive and don't let the other club beat us.

He played 10 games this year and wasn't in their finals team

He is at best an average player which may or may not be better then our current full back options but that doesn't make him worth a first rounder

Structure is the big key,

We went from conceding the least amount of points in 2024 to 8th worst in 2025

Majority of our issues come from our high press isolating whoever is deepest in a high loss percentage 1 on 1

Structure will be important but none of JoD/Lobb/Buss should be on the oppositions best forward.

It makes our defence so much weaker when Lobb/JoD can’t be used as interceptors

Merrett is no guarantee to be at the hawks next year media thinks the deal will get done but they are not list managers

Will be absolutely baffled if he doesn't end up there.

He's signed his contract to coincide with the Tassie inception. He's currently floating around on a half forward flank with our stacked midfield. Why wouldn't he take double his wage?

The club would know if he's been unresponsive to contract discussions and have a fair idea what his intentions are. Another high draft pick that we'll have to try and extract some decent value out of yet again.

Handing a 1st to the Crows doesn’t leave a lot for Butters.

For anyone that’s interested Danny/Boyd podcast and the Guest is our new list manager Michael Regan

Few things on this:

1) he’s a bloody ripper.

2) the club sounds pretty amazing in his view

3) he is actually spot on with Busslinger and never having done a pre season in full. It makes a huge difference and given our good development in draftees I’m still confident he’ll be a player. But we still do need one more in the door. Lobb isn’t getting any younger.
