Gunston coming in or out? Watching Gunston this year, my thought has been that our list management team were astute to sign him given he what he showed he could produce this year, and it was a shame he wasn't in the right head space at Brisbane.

If the words were instead "Brandon Ryan" then I agree it was a bit of a whiff by our list management team.
It's interesting to ponder 'what if' Gunston had been able to produce his finals form from this year in 2023.

Springfield land corporation is already a government legal rort.

Anything with the words ‘land corporation’ in it makes me feel things in my loins because you know it’s going to be a tier 1 rorting opportunity.

Fort seems to be under estimated.

He hasn't played a lot of footy at Senior level or knocked himself around .Seems fairly resilient.

Plus the more opportunity he got as No 1 ruck the better he seemed to get. Especially with his clearance work.

I don't see why he doesn't have a couple more good years in him. Especially with 5 on the bench.

Fort has been great and there is no indication he is slowing down at all. In fact I think he has improved.

With 5 on the bench I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a lot of Draper/fort combo.

Fort been a two time Grand Final ruck.
Been very good this year once he got games going.
Totally agree prob 5 on bench we go Draper/Fort.

I love Smith to come on although he probably needs a season where he is not injured.
Do worry about how slow he is though.

Still getting around to rewatch the Futures game but Murray looks like one of the midfield types we are missing currently - that faster, game breaking type mid and he is in first round consideration for a few draft watchers in 26; Owen is also in 26 and some watchers have him as high as pick 7.

I think we may need more midfielders in 26 as we will likely lose Robertson and Tunstill this year as well as Neale and Bailey possibly on the move at the end of 26. Having another couple of quality mids that will start on Rookie salaries (to help smooth that curve as well) could be very valuable.

Given Academies are still accessible by 27 there should be some other KPP in that draft from the academy.
Currently missing a midfield type ? Now that's funny....

I hope we be upfront to Ah Chee that if Adelaide plays funny buggers we're happy for him to go home to WA. Considering they're chasing Petracca, they'll offer scraps and we don't have to be at their mercy.

West Coast will snap him up in PSD in a blink.
Ffs. C'mon man. He's a 2 time premiership player who is getting an offer that we can't and won't match. We can get him where he wants to go with out the silly bugger attitude

You're right, our culture extends through the club in everything we say, and everything we do. We trade in good faith and do what is right for our players. I think this is the 'Fagan' effect. We treat everyone with respect including the other clubs, and the media. Players come and go, I think the Lions, as they are now, pride themselves on all employees present and past saying great thins about their time at the Lions. I know a media statement is written by a Public Relations person but I thought Stewart dew's farewell message was a good example of a happy ex-employee. In business management I always felt it was a great honour as a manager/corporation to be seen as changing a employees/ex-employees life positively.

I think the 'Fagan' effect is a great thing.

Adelaide was a minor premier and they are looking to recruit petracca as well as ah chee to go one step further. These two players could be the difference in them going all the way in 2026.

I don't think we should knowingly strengthen our direct opponents hand. It could very well decide next years premiership race.

It won't affect Ah Chee's life changing offer anyway- if he puts 5 year / X million on his head and goes psd - lot of bottom clubs will grab him in no time.

Caylen Murray on my admittedly scant viewing is a Hugh McCluggage "type", great kick and vision... another Clugga would be handy.

Whether Caylen can be anywhere near as good as Hugh is a long way off being proven though.

We don't have to give him away bu we don't have to play hard ball about it either. The deal will be done in a mature and realistic fashion.

As long as he is also tough and hard at it.
Don’t need players who aren’t prepared to go hard at the ball.
Look at The Lachie Neale goal and the difference between the way Zorko and Smith attacked the ball.

With Adelaide’s Contract offer to Cal we should be getting decent trade value for him.
But either way we can’t force anything because we aren’t prepared to match their offer so we get what we get really.

Fully agree mpal6.

Adelaide need to pay fair compensation if the want a trade.

Their 2nd round won’t cut it.

With Murray and Owen in next years draft (may be impossible to get both) we need future picks.

Adelaide’s future 1st needs to be on the table IMO. For Cal and maybe a later pick going to them.

We can operate in good faith however my fear is we'll be forced to hardball considering they're going after Petracca.

My guess is there'll be a bunch of scraps on the table for us if they are successful in completing Petracca trade.

I think it’s important to treat our outgoing players with respect, for example the way Essendon is publicly attacking Merrett will just discourage players from going there

We literally don't have to say anything, if the offer isn't good enough - we can let him slide.

It helps being upfront with him so he can keep his options open in terms of both SA and WA.

I don't understand why some of us here are bringing up this point. It's not like anyone is threatening to burn him at the stake.

Ah Chee wants more money on a longer deal, the Crows are offering him that, we can't offer him the same, we don't need to say anything, Ah Chee goes over to Adeliade for a pick or two, that's the end of it.

Will he get a goodbye post on the socials? Probably, but he wants to leave, it's not a medical retirement. Let man go over an get paid.

I'm sure we'll work out a trade with Adelaide which is fair in terms of the package they are offering Cal.

They'll be very eager to make the next step next year & win a quarter of finals football.

Over valuing draft picks & getting some young kid through the door rather than Ah Chee isn't going to get you that improvement.

Good luck to Cal, always a 2x Premiership player for us. Could never underestimate his commitment to the team.

If Starc goes as well, I know it’s customary for raucous boos, but I hope the gabba cheers them on their return bout with both playing huge roles in both premierships.
