They just spoke about Pies on Footy Furnace. Nothing particularly new.

There's a trigger for a third year on Elliott's deal, Mihocek is most likely gone, Morris thinks Hill will stay, we're interested in poaching Giansiracusa.
This would either be a massive flex or one for the chicken little’s that harbour doubts over Fly’s long term plans. Adding Boak as well would seem to me like we’ve done more than enough to not go backwards off field.

I think it is pretty evident that the Collingwood system is the not the easiest to pick up for a new player.

Hopefully perryman and Houston elevate their performances to a new level next year.
Bobby, Mitchell and McStay didn’t seem to have any troubles. I doubt the system is the issue, lots of players take a while to adjust in a new team.

According to the media, everyone is underpaid at Collingwood and it's insulting, but at Geelong they do under pay everyone and its brilliant.....🤪🤣
Correction. Everyone is insultingly underpaid and also our cap is bursting so we can’t afford to recruit anyone. These two statements do not contradict each other at all.

Is it more about the defensive system that they have struggled with, and not a team thing.

Don’t like May but up to the club. I was stuck on the fence. Can’t talk about Billy, Bobby and May now. Next!!!!
Maybe like the reaction last year with the package when it was rumoured to come to us, the fans have again influenced the club's decsion :p

The package had some good moments for GWS but in the end it was damaging for the team. Back from injury late and could not perform in finals. It was a good miss and May appears to be another. The age and the years drop off were concerning.

No it's not. He was on the edge of the AA team this year. $500,000 is the average wage and that includes kids who will play less than 1 game of AFL.

Because some veterans who were paid a heap throughout their career are willing to play for the club for a heap less than what they're worth, doesn't mean all veterans should.
It seems a bit high for his age, but for someone who hasn't been payed huge money throughout his career and has just had his best year, it's fine.

I don't take too much notice of reported terms anyway. We don't know how accurate they are and whether there's more to it.

Important thing is that Jamie has signed. A player you really don't want to see playing elsewhere.

Forwards have basic role for McRaes system.
So did the in and under hard ball getters.

The complex bit is the defensive 6 way of forming a fort under siege, has to be disciplined. Also the transition of the ball from the back half to the forward 50 is clearly a McRae signature that needs discipline and unselfishness...

Houston playing a role that requires him being a link to a chain is unaccustomed to him. He's used to creating attacks from nothing.

I think the picture is getting a bit clearer for mine. Buller comes in to cover Checkers type role even though he not as decorated he will fill the bill. Blight comes in to secure up our pillars down back. Moore or Howe could both play a bit forward next year to balance things out.

Think we getting ready for big plays next year on a King type forward. Not much we can do this year wit limited picks and currency.

I can't think of a more disappointing top 5 pick in recent memory. He has not fired a shot. Has played 20 odd games in 2 years as a midfielder/ HF and averages 4 kicks per game, 2.7 HB and .5 tackles. Has struggled to get his own ball
They spend a lot of time injured as well, all the brothers. I wouldn't be taking the latest one at pick 1 either

More likely the starting offer of circa $480K base plus incentives is now $550K base plus incentives but like the media all do when reporting the final figure they go for maximum bang by including all possible incentives.

So it's $480K becomes $650K, when in reality the hike is probably more like $70K.

I agree with you on the checkers thing.
I’m not really there with you based on the reporting that he’ll be on at least $650k. From my perspective that’s market rate and once you’re paying market rate to retain someone it’s no longer a strong deal. You pay 3 or 4 guys their market rate and all of a sudden your ability to bring in a difference maker is shot.

The flip side and why I’m agnostic on it now that it’s settled in is that he’s a glue guy and retaining him comes with a degree of sentimentality that I don’t usually have. I think for a lot of us he’s been a generational favourite and specifically for me he’s the third of my lifetime (Buckley>Daisy>Elliott).

Only feels right to post this too.

The end of that game was ‘unimaginably cruel’ according to Gerard.

Yep it was cruel, but I could go on imagining many more, and worse, endings for Carlton. Which hopefully continue to involve us.
