Oliver isn't at peak value that's pretty obvious and hasn't been for some time.Disagree, if they're looking to rebuild on the fly then capitalising on aging players at peak value is when you trade them.
This year, Oliver at his full salary is worth a F2, next year even less. Argument can be made to take on some of the salary and get a late first.
If they're prioritising youth, they are looking at Langford to be the primary in that role, therefore pushing Oliver out of the midfield. A year of Oliver playing HBF makes his value even less again
Doing it publicly like that means he's already being managed outReads like HR preparing to put someone on a management plan
Geelong have gone after Worpel insteadWe definitely cooled on Oliver -because getting Trac to Adelaide has been in progress even before finals {mid year)
If we do miss Trae - does Oliver become a target ?
Geelong were keen and they will have the Curnow cash if they miss out on him
Or they cash in on trade chips to start their rebuild. Anyone not named Gawn or Viney who is over the age of 27 is trade currency.Reads like a player that the Demons and the coach have no confidence in keeping his "shit" together and having further issues going forward.

That would play a big role too you'd think.Unless it’s purely a money thing. They are rebuilding and know he won’t be part of their next flag push?
Stocking up in this heavily compromised draft ain't great strategy either. Nothing to do with Clarry? Are you serious?Or they are going full rebuild mode with May, Trac, Oliver and McVee out the door.
They don't have a pick in this years draft which according to Dees was a planned move but will stock up before Tassie comes in. This is the last chance to bank some talent before Tassie and if they think this group can't do it then rip the band aid off.
I don't think it has anything to do with Clarry personally but if they can move his money and open up opportunities to pay some FA's or younger kids to hang around they will be in a better position in a couple of years time.
Plan B? Doesn't have our name to it what so ever but something to go for if Trac nominates GC
Yep, this my friends, is a textbook Firesale!Or they cash in on trade chips to start their rebuild. Anyone not named Gawn or Viney who is over the age of 27 is trade currency.
Was just coming from Gary Lyon and the talking heads on Trade Radio as what Melbourne would demand in a trade, obviously not actually happeningWas listening to the Dan Does Footy podcast on the way to work. Said Fogarty's name has been whispered in a potential Trac trade.
First I've seen if that. Anyone else seen that mentioned?
I've heard that's exactly what it is, HBFI really don't get this statement.
'The coach will outline a new set of plans for Oliver, which might not be to Oliver's liking.' - what does that even mean? Training with more intensity or something along those lines? If he doesn't like it at Melbourne then which other club is going to happily put their hand up knowing that? A different role with less midfield time? Seems unusual if you're going to lose Petracca and have Oliver playing on such a big contract when he isn't capable of playing elsewhere - unless they want to go with their silly suggestion of a few years ago and have him spend time off HBF.
Nah, Melbourne are making it clear they know Oliver commands nothing in a trade anymore and know they ****ed up by not taking our deal in 2023 when he had higher value.Let me guess, they want to trade him but he is simultaneously a required player who commands the highest possible trade value?
Is disgraceful how Melbourne have handled Oliver in recent years - mixed messages
Only Garry Lyon and Buddy Holly discussing Victorian trade fantasies. Was listening to the Dan Does Footy podcast on the way to work. Said Fogarty's name has been whispered in a potential Trac trade.

If you have a read of their board, Tim Lamb isn't exactly the most popular personTwo years ago
We offered to take Oliver’s contract in full and a pretty solid trade deal
Dees said no - for two years they have been bi-polar in whether they want him or not
What a poor footy club
OY!As the saying goes. Heard this a long time ago.
Queensland, beautiful one day, perfect the next. Why god decided to fill it with dickheads is anyone's guess.
100%. And don't get me wrong, peak Oliver is amazing, but if you can't read the tea leaves as to what the issue were (are) you have rocks in your head.It means the Demons don't share Viva La Mattner's confidence that Oliver has got his "shit" together and Stephen King is in a way better position to gauge that.
To be fair that also doesn't make us look any better.... they saved us from ourselves with that trade and petty...Two years ago

We offered overs for Oliver and Petty and Melbourne did the Crows move of keeping them both and then having overpaid guys on long term deals on the books. Two years ago

If I was Melbourne, I would have traded Jack Viney personally
Basically cooked but is contracted for THREE more years
