Have heard from a close source that we’ve reached out to Melicans manager. We also did a few years back which I posted about also. Not sure we’re gonna die wondering this off season.

This just goes to show that in a trade period where the epitome of mid, Jack Silvangni is likely to be the best KPD to change clubs.

That even though we've identified a structural issue and cast a pretty wide net over every possible candidate from the sub-elite of Wilkie to the middling of Butts and Young. That we've now reached the inevitable conclusion of the search and arrived at desperation station where journeyman like Burton, Frost and Millikan and inevitably May enter the conversation.

Sometimes it's just best to sit on your hands, look within, go with what you've got and take a closer look at why it is that our defensive structures have fallen apart when it matters. Something that has seen our defenders exposed more times than Donald Trumps penis on South Park this year.

Lists are built over years we have a great crop of players 23-27 (Weightman/Naughton/JOD/Richards/West) equally we have a great crop of kids 22 or under (Smith/Freijah/Dolan/Croft/Darcy/Sanders/Hynes/Buss)

We are building nicely and going the Carlton/Essendon/St Kilda sugar hit routes will be our downfall

Regan is a very smart man. Great strategic mind and very good with numbers. Adding him to Power is a great outcome.

Liam Jones was let go after 205 games, following multiple stints at the Western Bulldogs and Carlton.

Feel like the justification would be he may stunt the development of some of the younger guys with him and Gards in the 2s

I appreciate Bevo and the coaching staff have access to better info than we do, but my view is we should persist with the KPDs we have unless a real standout emerges, and focus on pressure up the field to protect them.

A lockdown small defender might help too, but again it needs to be someone genuinely better than Baker, Sellwood etc or it’s pointless.

He may be right that a better preseason would help, but he looked cooked when he played and he’s getting on. Plenty of players struggle to accept footy mortality.

Nah, I think he's cooked.

Look at how good he was halfway through the 2023 season, how good he is now, and continue that path over to next year. He's declining rapidly as a player as an age. It would be debatable whether we should keep him even if we expect him to be as good as he was as a VFL player post-bye let alone with that decline.

I would be surprised if any team picks him up, just like I'm surprised Jones didn't understand that and have a bit of dignity and get some accolades/recognition by retiring himself.

Some would of said the same about Jack Gunston 18-24 months ago. Not all things are linear.

He'll be a great pickup. Slots into the role we've needed since Duryea started his decline.

Easier paycheck at Arden St. If he’s not after any sort of success, I can see the appeal.

If that’s where he ends up, we’ve dodged a bullet.

It's sensible from a career point of view, he'd be handy as depth for us but it makes no sense to me why he'd move due to being depth to another team where that's all he'd be.

I'll genuinely be annoyed if we miss on Budarick to North, then there may actually be an issue with the club

Robertson gets to go home with WC and a better chance at midfield minutes, so him coming here didn't make a ton of sense. Budarick though is a different thing...

Budarick is the only player I want in this trade period (if Butters isn’t moving). Suits us perfectly. Will make us better.

Any other names floated would be handy depth but won’t move the needle as much as Budarick will IMO.
