Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Why would Charlie nominate a club whilst he is contracted?

He just puts himself in a corner if a trade can't be done, or if there are other options that might come later. His best move is to stay silent until a deal does or doesn't happen. He is a contracted big name, so I don't understand why he has to nominate a club. No?

They do want more top 10s this year reportedly. I wonder if they consider an F1 swap. Reduces their risk vs trading out of the 2026 first round completely.

Something like their F1 + 20 for our F1 + 9

Probably depends how they rate us.

I'm also on board with targeting the future WC first rather than Pick 2 this year, for what it's worth. As above, take Walker with it, or shop it for a stupid package of picks that match the Walker bid with change.

That being said, I think it also holds significantly more value for WC as well, so I think someone would have to make them a very good offer for them to part with the future first instead of one of this year's.

Not just one of this year's... the first we get from Sydney + the TDK pick + the JSOS pick...

They did pick 3 for 12 + 14 last year so it's a chance...

I can remember being at an under17/18 game alongside, let's say a coach and recruiter (both AFL) about 15 odd years ago. There was this kid playing who was not big, but he threw himself around, got in the face of opposition players, gave away free kicks and saluted the crowd when he stood on someone's head and then proceed to banana it from the boundary.

I saw him tackle someone high and hold the headlock for about 30 seconds, the crowd were into him big time! I saw him get up and smile at them, as if he was in a WWE wrestling match and annoying the crowd.

I distinctly remember having a chuckle and then the recruiter turned to us and said, 'what a flog, he would be an absolute nightmare for a coach and club culture'. The 'coach' then replied, 'I want him, he is going to be special. You've shown me 10 nice blokes, how do you think we will succeed if we have a team of altar boys (exact phrase), him and Jez will scare the shit out of the defenders and become leaders. The recruiter's response, 'we can trade him 3 years in, one of the Vic clubs will give us a pick for him'!

It's been about how many aerial targets you have and how good your forwards are at ground level as a whole.

Having a forward group who are mostly strong overhead but all good to ok at ground level is where it's at. Spreads the defence, creates more one on one's, takes intercept defenders out of the game.

McKay, Moir, Kemp, O'Keefe is a good starting point. Williams is ok overhead.

We have recruited too many small forwards with no aerial ability and that has created an issue for us. Makes us predictable going forward.

I would say even considering this group, I'd love another smaller forward who is strong overhead and good on the lead.

Hoping Walker is this for us and will play forward/mid for us.

Can really see why we chased Elliott.

Whatever the cost ends up being, I think anyone trying to prise a top pick out of WC is going to be offered the Allen compo pick, and if they ask for WC's future first instead I think the "cost" will be siginificantly higher than buying one of their 2025 first rounders.

Seems widely accepted that this draft isn't much chop, and next year has some really promising players already, so no reason to think that WC's value assessment won't match that.

Nothing more certain than Geelong picking up Oliver for a fourth rounder and only having to pay half his salary, for him to then turn around and become an A grader again.

I will say though... that club is taking on a lot of risk with DHs. That cup is already overflowing. I will take some joy when it bursts.

St Kilda have had the most vanilla list in recent years.

NWM is a freaking superstar. They have a bunch of decent B+ talent where other clubs have stars. Their veterans are solid (but unspectacular), but they do at least have several promising kids. But nothing in the middle.

I can understand their big poaching spree (ignoring the $ being thrown around).

They have banked 2 to 3mill. The big 4 recruits cost around 6. They have to find an extra 3mil max for 2 years. If Milera leaves, it is only 3 mil from yr 3. It is doable
