Quick Links

List Changes - 2025
In:
  • Brandon Starcevich arrives at West Coast in a three team deal
  • Tylar Young (Richmond) arrived at West Coast in exchange for Pick 38.
  • Deven Robertson (Brisbane) has agreed to join West Coast and will be signed on to the rookie list after being delisted by Brisbane
Out:
  • Oscar Allen joins Brisbane as a FA - West Coast receive Pick 2 as compensation
  • Liam Ryan and a 2027 R3 pick has been traded to St Kilda for a 2026 R2 pick
  • Campbell Chesser has been traded to Carlton for Pick 41
  • Jayden Hunt announces retirement

  • Coen Livingstone joins the list of players not offered a new contract

Players Out of Contract - 2025 (0)

2025 Draft Order

Current Draft Picks:
Round 1: 1, 2, 13
Round 2: 34, 41
Round 3: 53, 58 (These picks are in excess of available list spots so will be forfeited if we don’t consolidate our 2025 picks up the order or trade some for future picks)

List Spots Available (39 of 48):
• Main list (33 of 38) - 5* (in: Starcevich, Young out: Allen, Ryan, Chesser, Hunt, Petruccelle, Jamieson)
• Cat A rookie list (5 of 8) - 3* (in: Robertson (pending), out: Rawlinson)
• Cat B rookie list (1 of 2) - 2 (out: Livingstone)

* Based on Dewar being upgraded after the maximum 3 years on the rookie list. Hutchinson may also have been upgraded but this isn’t confirmed - if it is we will have 4 main and 4 rookie list spots open

* Matthew Clarke has stated we have 5 main list spots

Matt Clarke wraps up the trade period - 6PR

Bit harsh on Hogan, bloke was photographed smoking cigarettes after being diagnosed with cancer and a death in the immediate family.

Clarry is a far more dangerous situation IMO.
Pre-draft knock on Oliver was literally lack of professionalism (bloke was in poor shape) and here we are
Not harsh at all.

It’s been common knowledge that Starcevich has had multiple concussions in recent years. Reportedly as many as 4 in 14 months. And that’s assuming he just got a headache in the GF. No need for a detailed due diligence on that.

These facts alone should be enough to convince the club to ensure that any contract offered is structured so as to ensure the club has minimal exposure if he retires due to concussion.

Good work folks or not much work getting done at all. 250 posts in this thread in less than 6 hrs.

Get Dev they said and God smiled down upon thee!!!!!!!

The curse is over thanks Simmo.
Speaking of simmo, i was in carlisle yesterday and got a whopper meal from his HJ franchise.

I must say whilst the burger was standard for your get em in and out. The chips were on point and the staff were very courteous and polite and actually smiled at you.

Simmo must be hiring private school boys and girls.

As are a significant proportion of AFL players.
An anonymous club doctor estimated up to a third of players are regular illicit drug users

Of course. But Hogan was in the Oliver territory once upon a time now is all cleaned up, can take some time. If anything that shows maybe we shouldn't be so against Oliver, the right environment can work wonders on someone.

We should have done this DD before his knock as its always been the risk. This is alarming tbh.
You don't think we already did and are now revisiting it due to the change in circumstances?

Not a great example since Hogan got out of Vic, went home to Perth and Freo and still ran off the rails.

Took a third club and his last chance to get him right.
More like he ran on the rails

amirite

Was just thinking about Brady Rawlings jumping ship then Darren Glass and finally Rohan O'Brien's departure. Surely the revolving door of list manager must have had a negative impact on the list development. Here's hoping Matty Clarke sticks around. Need stability and performance in that role.

We drop Tim Kelly for one game after weeks of him being in awful form and contributing nothing and get accused of tanking. Melbourne and Richmond have firesales and offload a whole bunch of their best and most experienced players in return for draft picks and all at once and nobody accuses them of tanking.

Oliver in terms of what is available for inside midfielders this trade period Eagles have to be looking at this. He is a senior body and gets away from Melbourne and his training and performance was better last year. I think if he is a 2nd or 3rd round pick that eagles have to look at this. Premiership success.

The one thing I would say is that Mini has a relationship with him from him time at Melbourne. He would have a behind the scenes view on Clayton and whether the risks are worth the rewards.

At his best, a very good inside mid. At his worst...well...it'd be risky...

At his best he is A grade and at his worst probably still our top two mids.

Make Eagles Druggos Again!

Assuming we land Young, Robertson and Starcevich that only leaves 4 main list spots. We’d be hoping that our NGAs/FS don’t attract bids and if Cripps goes around again I suspect it will be as a rookie.
I would agree that we will probably put 1 or 2 players on a rookie contract to facilitate enough list spots for what we want out of 2025 draft and trade.
Cripps/Barnett/Johnston would be the 3 players we could do it with.
I hope I am understanding it correctly that being a rookie doesn't necessarily mean rookie wages?
Cripps can still get paid accordingly to his fair price?
List gurus??

Just don't think Oliver is a good fit for a young squad like the eagles. Too many young impressionable players that could be influenced by him. Not just from an illicit drugs perspective but an attitude and training perspective especially over the pre-season.
