Oliver would be a disaster. Has maximum of two years left at AFL level. Paying him $600k per year for the next five seasons would be madness.

Oliver at 80% is a much better mid then Long and Mitchell.

Back the club in, Fly with our leaders (who were always better then Dees) will get the best out of him.

He doesn't work out we lost salary cap room, big deal, Pies just carried Grundy and Treloar for 3 years.

Humphrey is a gun and I’d love for him to play for us but how on Earth could we ever satisfy GC from a trade perspective?

I’m not sure what the consensus is on this board as I’m not going to go through 15 pages, but I’d be taking a punt on Oliver.

We are a much better managed club with a superior culture. He’d be worth the risk!!!

You don’t find a bargain by taking discarded players from well Run clubs. Not saying I want Oliver and/or May, I haven’t followed there form. But gee wiz, based on there profile, they fit a desperate need and I suspect that if we are going to contend over the next couple of years, there will either need to be a remarkable improvement from the kids or some smart trading.

Seriously, Oliver is a superstar. Obviously Demons are rebuilding a new core and culture with the new coach. Oliver is a much needed player next to Naicos. He's only 28 and has a good 4 years left of being a star.... he's a very good pressure tackler and has burst.

Didn't Collingwood push Grundy, Treloar out paying half of their salaries so other teams would take them? Both were AA level players too.

As I said in my post, the trade will largely be about the contract. If Dees are paying a large portion of his contract they will want something decent in return.

So you’re just going to ignore everything I wrote and believe they’ll have the audacity to ask for something decent for someone they’ve declared an overpaid fringe player? Ok m8

After sleeping on it I’ve decided I wouldn’t be against bringing in Oliver for cheap. Never underestimate the potential of a talented discarded player with a point to prove.

That is how it was reported. The difference here is that Oliver reportedly comes with personal baggage.
