Yep, I just read that too.

Been dead against the Dogg since he was announced… Me being an old fart and far from thinking rap and “talking lyrics” takes any talent whatsoever..
However, gotta admit, the guy’s very media savvy and listening to some of his interviews comes across far from the D.. head I thought he’d be!.. Also seems a genuinely decent sounding bloke?.. (he’s also not a bad kick!) Will be watching with interest to see how it works as GF entertainment…

I’m 66 and obviously not really into that sort of music, but I actually enjoyed him. I thought he put on quite a good show and found myself moving to the music a couple of times. Much better than I thought he’d be.
Yep, I'm 31 so not really his target audience but I enjoyed it. I thought the songs turned out better than their studio versions by a fair margin, one of the things I don't gel with about pop/rap is that the music is programmed on a computer.

It doesnt really matter if he was good or bad, its clear the AFL's strategy is just get the biggest person with the greatest reach available

I think it was good for what it is, not something I like but anyone saying it was bad, what did you expect? him to come out and sing working class man?

The intro before the performance was the best part, I think the AFL missed a trick, they should of used that opening monologue as a promotion in the lead up to the game

Dayne Zorko needed to go up on stage and rip his Sunglasses off

You say that like having a Snoop or a Coldplay is somehow going to bring a significant outside audience and grow the game.
You dont think having snoop attracted more eye balls to the tv? you dont think having a global performer attracts greater sponsors and puts the AFL and its sponsors on a bigger stage? You dont think there has been/is far greater media coverage of it than the direct comparison of the NRL?

They aren't getting snoop because Andrew Dillon is bopping away to the Dogg in his office and its not about growing the game either

I’m a 50yo who grew up in the boring burbs of Melbourne and mostly listened to metal/grunge as a teen. Yes I still wear flannel shirts to this day.

I didn’t like rap/hip hop quiet as much but always enjoyed listening to NWA, Run DMC, Public Enemy and Ice T but once the 90s rolled around I never really got into Snoop.

Absolutely loved his performance though, AFL finally got this right , best pre match they have done IMO

Performing a medley of greatest hits like it's some sort of variety hour was shit in the 1980's when that sort of thing was still big. Makes the performer looked like washed up cabaret act.

Every newspaper/social media/forum based poll I’ve seen generally loved the snoop.

Big footy is more down the middle, many wanting screaming jets and kids in the kitchen 🥴
For my money, GF entertainment peaked in 2006 when Brian Mannix reprised the Uncanny X Men's immortal Everybody Wants To Work.

A 20th Anniversary rerun in 2026 would be a dream.

Probably just me, but I've never been the least bit interested in the "entertainment" so I don't watch it. When at home, the TV is switched on 5 minutes before the start of the game, off at half time, back on at the start of the 3rd term, then off after the post-match presentations have been made.

When I was attending GFs, I used the "Entertainment" time to visit the men's room, then stand on the end of the longest queue to buy a hot dog. All I want is the footy, that's it. I have no use for singing dancing, and whatever else at the footy. Don't know Snoop Dogg, don't want to know him, don't know his "music" at all.

You sound like fun
