And Marshall and Gallop deserve a grand final that they have some understanding of what they've achieved in the 10 minutes after the final siren. Many of their supporters thought they just had to turn up. We were seated on the end of our row, with a bay of Geelong supporters to our left. In the second quarter, with the free kick count getting more and more skewed in their favour, one Geelong fan was celebrating every free kick with “Great call umpire! An obvious free to Geelong.” Scores were about level, but he was so confident Geelong was going to win. What happened late in the third and in the final quarter was just glorious. At 3/4 time he was clearly in shock. Ten minutes into the last he was in hell. It was a beautiful thing.

He was out the front of the stadium posing for photos after the game. Seriously odd unit.

The gws semi was a turning a sliding doors moment for them too. They should have won by 5 goals. Huge chance to roll their bunnies the cats and win the flag. Could have kept more players. Been a big chance in 2025.

Instead they got focused on as finals chokers. Have now lost their past 4 finals by 19, 6, 5 and 1 points. Were in front in the last quarter in all of those games.

Weirdest part is they have absolutely had our number in 3 of the past 4 games, steamrolling us in second halves. The semi was going exactly the same way until we just caught fire and they got tight.

That GWS game last year felt like the biggest sliding doors moment in this clubs history. Without that win, we don't win the 24 flag, and don't build this belief that we can do it again and Fagan probably would have left as well considering what he endured in 2024.
