Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

I expect swans to improve next year and pies routinely make the 8. So anticipating picks after the top 10. I would still prefer the package to include another player that walks into our starting 18

The Pies back half of the season was very telling imo...

Similar to us end of 24...

I don't see them making finals again next year.

As for Sydney, well, bringing Charlie might push them back into contention... otoh, the unrest getting him could have caused a rift in the playing group... Cox is a relatively new coach...

Either way, we'll have Walker covered plus a pick to get another gun player. Next year's draft has a lot more on offer.

2 points that I have noticed in this thread the last week that I find fascinating.

1. The love for Lord. It seems he is in most people's best 23. With an influx of new talent, Jagga coming back, are you sure he fits in so easily? There may be a path to his spot in the 23, but I think a lot of people will be disappointed come round 1. He showed some promise this year, but I think it's a case of what you want to happen rather than the practical side of team balance.

Mind you, there shouldn't be a free pass to any new recruit, but we know that generally when you trade for new players, they play regardless of their pre-season.

2. The thought that Khamis is a lock at CHB. Do we even know if he is playing as a defender? Be careful to give the keys to a guy with little experience and who is severely undersized. CHB will either be Young or maybe a mature aged player we pick as a rookie or late in the draft (if we go that path). Personally, I assumed Khamis would either play forward or be more of a medium defender (Haynes type).

Any Khamis fans out there that can put together a case for him to be our next CHB?
Not excited about Khamis, think he lacks a ground level game and is not physical enough, I would be looking at potentially playing him on a wing in a similar way to Haynes. Weitering, O'Farrell and Dean will be our future defensive core for some time. A stop gap and depth player is my take.

Lord's spot is on the ball and he is competing with Cripps, Cerra, Hewett. Lord will split his time on a flank or wing with stints in the middle for some time.

Maybe. We'd probably have said the same about TDK a year ago.
It was reported that Port have an offer on the table, which would have made Butters the highest paid player in the league.

This was before NAS. They have the cash to force a trade.

Very important that we can not only mail the picks but not stunt the development of those players. We’ve burnt far too many top picks which has increased my preference to pick up established players over draft picks, but more we need to cover off the required picks for walker next year

TBH, I'm shocked GCS have gone down this path.
It makes more sense to me that they could have traded Ainsworth, Walter & Humphrey, for Charlie and something else back, yet they have gone down the path of individual deals, including one for JUH, which is surely going to end in tears.

GC have consistently been the worst in the league at list management. Probably even worse than dodo.

If they end up trading Humphrey, after stating categorically they won't, it will make them look even more ridiculous... and surprise nobody.

Could we see this scenario and are we potentially waiting on something like this coming from the Eagles and Swans?

Lose
WCE - Pick 2, Pick 41
SYD - Pick 11, Warner, Future 1st
GCS - Walter, Humphry
CAR - Curnow, pick 10
Melbourne - Petracca

Get
WCE - Pick 10, Warner
SYD - Curnow, Pick 41
GCS - Pick 2, Pick 11
CAR - Humphry, Walter, Future 1st
Melbourne - Pick 2

Results in Gold Coast Suns being able to trade for Petracca and getting more currency for academy players. Lose a good small forward and a tall forward who they have been playing in the 2nds and will not need with JUH and who they already have.

Sydney lose two first round picks and a player but gain the player they want.

Carlton get a young tall forward, good small forward and a future first to secure Walker. Fixes age demographic with our forwards and fills the Curnow hole. We completely fix up our small forward issues with Humphrey, Ainsworth and Chesser who can go forward. We turn Curnow into Walter, Humphrey and Walker. Sets up our future as a strong club. Fixes many holes immediately for next season. A 20 year old athletic key forward with massive potential just about ready to take off, 21 year old Humphrey about ready to take off career wise and Cody Walker sets us up massively for the next 13 years.

Melbourne get Pick 2 for Petracca. Let's face it, they are rebuilding now and this pick will be important to them.

West Coast get a good established player for pretty much a pick downgrade and a late 2nd rounder.

He was cleared

They dropped the charges. Which means he is innocent in the eyes of the law. That does not mean he is positively cleared of wrongdoing but that they do not feel they could get a conviction.

Warner a bit undervalued in this proposal for mine, but it’s always hard to make 4+ team trades where everyone looks like a winner

I'd probably do Rowbottom, pick 10, Future 1st and Florent for Curnow and a current or future 3rd.

Fairly reasonable- provided they can find homes for RowB/Florent and trade the picks to Carlton - not the actual players.

Florent in particular is of very little interest. JR is a great player but just not what Carlton needs at all.

I just hope Carlton have some players lined up to on-trade some of those picks.
